Devil May Cry 4 Demo Thread

tip for fire demon at end:

when targetting you can press circle to drag your self to his head, unleash a quick sword combo, before you fall press circle again to drag yourself back up and repeat

if your low on health stand on a building to get him to destroy it and drop some green orbs.

Problem I have is by the time I need health all the buildings have been destroyed. :(

JA few more jaggies then I was expecting tbh, but the 60fps is nice so can't complain I suppose.

Jaggies? Was that on the PS3 version?

I can't say i noticed any, gonna do a comparison of the xbox and PS3 versions tonight. I'm sure it'll be wrong to play DMC on the xbox though!

hmm, i am new to the game and found it tricky to get combat going. Plus I found the enemys a bit boring in the demo, like they didn't want to hurt me or come near me. The boss was a bit thick - but it still killed me.

Towards the end of the 10 minutes I got the hang of combos and knocking them up in the air.

I would love to buy it, but unless I can play the game... I think i will pick it up when its cheaper

Awesome demo :)

I love the grab move, the combos, it's all good. DMC has always been about stringing together crazy combos and learning to beat bosses quickly and if anything this is the best yet. Even on the simplest bad guys there's a good deal of scope to look like a complete badass ninja.

//edit - If you're finding the combat boring try adding more grabs into the mix.

Judging from DMC3 expect the full game to be miles harder.

yay ok, might be worthwhile then - I didn't like the "run for 2 minutes through doors and then get locked in with all of 2 badguys who aimlessly wandered about and then move to the next area".

Yeah they were pretty crap, I reckon the full game will be much harder though, DMC3 is well known for being hard I think so hopefully they've done the same with 4.

Well I thought it was fun, first DMC I've played so I had no idea what I;m doing. Managed to do a few moves that weren't just random slashes towards the end of the demo. My only real gripe was it seemed the pistols were a bit pants compared to the sword?

The pistol was completely useless, it doesn't even damage the enemies unless you spend literally hundreds of bullets.

May I ask why everyone else is so enamoured by the game? It's the same as the old games, and with OCuK being one of the more intolerant gaming communities I've come across, I'm surprised to see such a favourable reception to what is essentially Devil May Cry 2 (oh yes, I said it) with shinier graphics. Terrible camera angles as always, derivative and samey combat, poor dialogue, stupid AI and extreme linearity. The only plus are the graphics, very clean look and good performance. (PS3 version)

Played it last night and definitely gonna pre-order it now. Loved all the other DMC games, and this is more of the same. How it plays reminds me of the first game, but the environments remind me of the second. As for it being like all the others thats fine by me as well, last time the tried to change it was the second game and that was nowhere near as good. This is DMC but better graphics and hopefully in the full game better weapons/moves.

derivative and samey combat

Really? I love the combat. Chucking demons into the air, juggling them with bullets, jumping up and unleashing a combo before throwing them into a wall. The grab move is superb. It makes for a decent opener - Scorpion 'get over here'! stylee - and is superb for grabbing downed enemies while you're in mid air, or to get up to the bosses head level. Already options are opening up and I can see it being possible to string/juggle multiple enemies together is the coolest of ways in the finished game.

For those prepared to put time into the combat I think will come away very happy with DMC4.

Not played any DMC games but after playing the PS3 demo, I'm going to get it. Not sure which version though. Would prefer the PS3 as I've nothing to play on that at the moment, but the 360 version is a far bit cheaper for some reason.

Depends where you buy it from, I've seen the PS3 version for £30.99 delivered.
