I prefer TS - less hassle and easier to set up cheaper servers. Some others prefer Vent; it's six of one, half a dozen of another.

And btw: The quote in your sig is incorrect; it's "moments", not "memories" :)
 
Ventrilo is free, servers aren't.

I have a server somewhere, if can you find it, let me know lol and you can have a channel.

Can't even remember who I bought it from, they were American but had servers in UK, the dollar exchange rate made it a bargain.
 
even when compairing codec for codec in my experience vent has been the better application

but lets try and prevent one of those threads from becoming a vent vs ts thread

last i checked vent and ts can be free if you set up the server yourself, i think its licencsed for less than 8 for vent and <16 for ts (dont quote me im too lazy to check)

skype and steam are completely free but only ideal for smaller chats

We used Ventrilo for a year or so - running a server off one of my machines - it was excellent, but we had intermittent problems so switched to skpye - It's free, excellent quality (though each player needs to set up their system properly or you can get echo/hiss/noise etc...) and works well (up to 4 players so far) - best of all you're using their server so not maxing out your own bandwidth!)
