A new study has shown that a whopping 25% of people in Britain believe Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill was a myth, while the majority of those questioned in the poll believed Sherlock Holmes to be real.

Another large amount of people believe Indian leader Mahatma Ghandi, one of Britain's greatest novelists Charles Dickens and the Duke of Wellington, who beat Napoleon at Waterloo, were also made up.

3,000 people took part in the poll.

Wasnt he the one that gave the famous speech after the war

Thats without reading this topic at all

Who's the dimwits, the people who don't know recent history or the people who decide what is taught in history lessons, or both?

3,000 people, not really enough people to make assumptions on. Although everyone who were idiots in that poll are definately idiots :p

They probably interviewed the same demographic as that moron from Big Brother who didn't know who Shakespeare was. When informed that he wrote Romeo & Juliet he thought 'The Bard' was a 16th Century film director!

Neither. It's those who think that 690 people represent a quarter of the population.

Ah right, so they didn't actually poll all Britons just 3000 of them, in a confined area too I'd imagine, probably a busy shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon or somefing.
I wonder how they managed to only poll Britons too in our multicultural society, unless the first question was 'Are you British, if so can you answer these questions please' unlikely really:)
