Was good, but just not the same. Did they actually explain anything about Sam? It didn't get my full attention.

Early days yet. I thought it was brilliant. I doubt it'll ever be as good as Life on Mars but there's masses of potential.

I think it explained Sam quite well, very cleverly done and underlines his end quite easily.

I loved both series of Life On Mars, and thought all the characters were absolute class. After watching the new one, Ashes To Ashes, it doesn't seem as well written, but that's still only the first episode. There weren't any memorable moments or lines, so nothing particularly excellent yet.

Spooky clown though.

My thoughts exactly. Loved both series of LoM but didn't give Ashes to Ashes my full attention. Will give it a chance though and watch again next week.

Zippy and George freaked me out. I hope they're a regular feature. :D

The first twenty minutes or so really didn't convince me. But, things improved as they went on and I'll be tuning in next week for sure. It was certainly a nostalgia trip though, and far more relevant to me than Life on Mars. It was nicely shot in parts with a pleasingly sinister air to it.

I loved the 'state of the art' computerised end credits. Nice touch. :)

Well what a mess that was, really disappointed

firstly 1981 is nowhere near as good a time to set it in as 1973 was

there is also no need to virtually recreate the storyline from the first 2 series, it doesn't need the "time travel" aspect, it should have been a simple program based on the antics of the coppers

I agree, it could have carried on from where it was (but in the 80's, as the 70's wasn't as cool). But thats what I expect from the writers.

the early 70s weren't cool but the kitch of it all is what makes it great now
