Lottery winner in debt after blowing £10m jackpot

What a tit, such a vast difference between just enjoying it, instead of going overboard and ending up broke and 2 million in debt.

Still i suppose in one sense at least he got the chance to do it, wouldn't mind having a go at it myself. :p

I think that people generally have a perception that winning the lottery instantly makes you super rich - it doesn't really it just gives you a few million

things like investing in football clubs & guaranteeing a good portion of their debt is something the super rich do tbh... - i.e. business men with say 100 million+ not just a few million

this guy had the sort of financial resources that say a top lawyer or accountant might have & you don't tend to see them being so extravagant

Oh my, what an idiot!

So lucky. :(
Did you correct the spelling in your quote, because here's what it actually says:

He swopped his battered old Vauxhall Astra for a £140,000 Ferrari Modena Spyder.

edit: for the record I think you are all being a bit harsh on him - sure he hasn't exactly been sensible, but he has given the majority of his winnings to others (including 5% to charity), which I find commendable

Whats that saying?
A fool and his money are soon parted....

Exactly my thought.

I personally don't think I'd tell anyone. Infact I'd probably just drive the same car (Ford Focus Diesel). I think I would buy a good family home (nice little mill cottage).

I think I would make myself continue working for the first year - to keep a level head. Then I think I would perhaps look into some interesting things like being a non-paid volunteer archaeologist.

I would definitely focus on family and ensuring my children have the best education but also recognise the value it.

Perhaps in my youth I'd buy this and that but, to be honest I've gone off being flash. Perhaps getting older I'm thinking more about family = past, present and future.

some people are really stupid :)

i'd buy me the best studio i could with the best equipement then put all in the bank waiting for it to make children... while i launch my new career

Crickey, talk about kicking him when he's down.

This isn't a rapist or kiddie fiddler, just a guy who made a couple of naive descisions, personally I feel a little sorry for him.

I feel sorry for the guy. Someone who's gone from near destitution to having such a load of cash would obviously struggle to adapt to actually having more money then he would know what to do with.
