Huge Let Downs

I don't understand how you guys are be so disgusted with a game that within 30 mins of installing you uninstall it and never play it again. I would at least try it a few more times. i guess thats just the difference in personality.
However, the game I was let down the most by was either Stalker, Civ4 or Black and White 2.

HL2 and BF2 were and still are some of my favorite games of all time! HL2 plus its episodes are just as good, if not better than HL and its mods were.

that would be silly ,1/2 the games I buy end up in the bin although now I try to find demos before I buy !
There is a lot of sht games out there but also some very good ones !

Stalker is a great game but you need to give it a chance ,I hated it until I understood it !
Only real let down was all the running backwards and forwards , a vehicle would have made it a much better game ,oh and the annoying noise from the PDA !
I'm with you on a couple, but SupCom and HL2
Fair enough if they were a let down to you, but they're two of my favorite games of all time!

Star Wars Battlefront was a massive let down. I was hoping it would be a Star Wars version of Call of Duty, but the AI was just lame. You had to do all the killing while your team of bots just kept dieing and did zero killing, which made it no fun.

Amazing the range of opinion. I loved Bioshock, and STALKER, and Oblivion. (But then I really love the Gothic series so what do I know?)
I think the trick is to play each game and judge it on its own merits, rather than on preconception or against how it could/should have been made. The question is were you entertained to the value of your cash purchase? For me, almost every game I've played has entertained me and been worth the price (ones I'm not sure about I wait for budget buy time and get them for £10/£15 - that really saves disappointment!)
But if I had to pick a worst game ever?...
MS Flight Sim - bored, bored, bored, bored, bored - great game - just can't play for more than 10 minutes - not value for my money

I used to be crazily addicted to RTS games and spent god knows how many hours playing C&C Red Alert and then Starcraft and then Age of Empires 2, but ever since then I've not found a single game of that genre that has grabbed me and it's such a big let down.
I so wanted to love Age of Mythology and then Age of Empires 3 but I just can't. The same goes for Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, C&C Generals and lately C&C 3...they are all just missing something as far as I'm concerned. A real biggie is that no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't even enjoy Warcraft 3. Others have come and gone like Empire Earth, Rise of Nations, DoW+addons, LOTR:ROTMK, Company of Heroes and so on and so forth, yet I still haven't found a single one that ignites my gaming passion like those 3 older games managed to do so successfully.
Come to think of it, the last games of any genre to really blow me away were Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate 2, Diablo 2 and Counterstrike. How sad...
