Washed the 'teg.

Looks awesome mate, I'm really liking DC2s at the minute.

Off topic, did I see you in your pimp new family chariot last week - on the M5 southbound near Bristol around midday on Sunday? If so, it's awesome!

looks ok, your bonnet is really dirty though.

And going to the local "industrial estate"/warehouses is tired

Bonnet needs relaquering, will be getting it done soon. And yes, I'm fully aware that the industrial estate thing is very cliche'd, but I was running out of daylight and it was close.

But thanks for the awesome comments iBot, you are a credit to motors

Looks good, get new tyres becuase the best handling FWD chassis ever built is useless with KUMHO tyres on it!

OK, story behind the Kumhos.....

I needed 2 new tyres on the front quickly for the MOT, so went to my local tyre place and got the only half-decent non ditchfinders they had. They suggested these Kumho Ecsta SPTs, I went for it as I needed them quick, but told them to swap front to rear as I would rather the best tyres on the front (Advan Neovas).

Anyway, they were only meant to be temporary but I am genuinely finding them pretty damn good to be honest. Obviously they aren't as good as the Advans, especially the sidewall stiffness, but overall I very impressed with them for the price. I'm not the only one either:

Looks awesome. New fog light? Looks like the same one I got, £5 from Halfords:p

Same one that's always been on there, I forgot to photochop it out of that shot :D

Never will understand this. How do people get into the situation whereby they end up stuck with whatever the garage has? MOT's are every year, you know when they are and you know what condition your tyres are in. It's only an extra 30 minutes out of your day to book it in for some new tyres before the MOT.

I always wonder why people present cars for MOT's with things like dodgy tyres and faulty bulbs. Do people ever check over their cars?

Guess your Teg is like the cars you see in Halfords carpark now - covered in Bridgestone/Advan stickers but with Wan Li/Kumho's on the tyres..

They had worn on the inside edge due to the camber and excessive toe-out, I did check the car over but didn't notice the wear on the insides.

Not really, it still has Advans on the front :)

Besides, the Kumhos are not on the same level as Wan-li/Nokian/ditchfinder special. As you know I don't exactly drive my car like a grandad and if they were useless they wouldn't have stayed on the car for longer than 5-minutes. As it stands they aren't actually that bad, so I'm happy to keep them on there for the time being. Anyway, I like a frisky back-end ;)

Looks ace that :D

OT but what camera is it though? It might just be me but it looks to me like there's a fair bit of chromatic abberation in those shots. Could just be an illusion though

Because life rarely follows a script, and people go to work 5 days a week, and have more important things to worry about - so things get overlooked and left to the last minute and compromises have to be made.

FWIW the last car I drove on Kumho Ecstas was a Mk2 Escort with a 2.1 Pinto and they were pretty damn good.

If a car fails its MOT on tyres, then it would also pick you up 3 points per tyre if you were stopped by the police.

This is generally speaking more important than popping into Sainsburys on your way home from work to get a lottery ticket, or having a lie in on a Saturday morning. I do like the patronising 5 days a week work thing - I worked 6 days a week for a year when I was on my placement so I'm well aware of what its like. Oddly that didn't mean I could drive around on illegal tyres and fail MOT's on things which take 10 seconds to check.

Come on, are you really telling me that in the month before the MOT test both of your lives so were jam full of stuff obviously I'd never understand that you didnt even have 15 minutes of spare time :p You all manage to post on here :p

It's a Fuji S5700, I have no idea what 'chromatic abberation' is, it could be down to the fact that that they were all done on auto, and/or it could be my sub-standard photoshop post-processing skills :D

I have started a thread in the photography section asking for comments/advice on the actual photography :)

Looks great, very tidy machine and my preferred headlights :D Like the stickers too...

I had Kuhmos all around on the Corvette ('86) and they were great, car drove brilliant on 'em :)

Looked nice as well :p

Kuhmo Ecsta are lovely, lots of sticky for not too much money.

But then if you can't afford Fox approved tyres, i can understand why you can't afford to get the bonnet sprayed ;)

Front brakes look interesting, are they Brembos?

Yes, as Neil said they are DC5 calipers, with 'Ceramic-Carbon-Metallic' pads, don't ask me what make, they were already on the car.

The brakes are just incredible

IIRC they're 300mm, run with a spacer and custom mounts. A lot of work and only those wheels will clear them.

Yup, that sums it up :D

Not quite as impressive as the DC5 calipers, but I've just ordered a set of prelude calipers, 282mm disks and black dimond pads. Hope it improves the stopping power over the standard 96 spec brakes. You don't know just how lucky you are!
