Can anyone advise as to which gaming mouse to purchase next, i have an mx-510 at the minute but think it is a bit clumpy! Playing mainly COD 4 and FPS, what can peeps recommend?

Razer deathadder + diamondback are rather tasty and reliable.

Also the SteelSeries Ikari Laser Mouse is getting a lot of rave reviews on random sites.

The razer lachesis for me is fantastic, however a lot of users are having firmware issues, seems a lot of mice are experiencing random cursor jumps, if I was a new user I would avoid it till the issues are fixed.

its all about the shape. i still play with an intellimouse explorer 3.0 at a top level

if i was gonna get a new mouse id get the razer deathadder, cause its the same shape as above and one that works for me, but newer tech.

find mouse shape/grip that suits you best and go from there. thats the best advice i can give. obviously you can buy any old mouse and teach yourself to work with it but you won't ever truly be happy until you've tested them all and find the best shape, weight and feel for you :)

The best advice I can possibly give here is to agree with Coot, pop into your local PC shop and try out a few mice, some peoples hands just suit certain mice shapes. For whatever it is worth I've got a G7 (now sadly discontinued) and a couple of the original Intellimouse v3.0s and find them to be excellent although I do noticed the lower DPI initially when I switch back to the Intellimice.

I have a Trust Optical USB Optical mouse :D

It works fine though, I use it for FPS games inc. COD 4, and it's great, plus they cost about £4 new.

I bought the Razer Krait with the mantis mouse mat thingy. Its a nice mouse for FPS games even though it does say its optimized for MMO/RTS.

it's funny you say that, i agree and think the krait is actually better than the diamondback (its the same optical engine). only difference is the krait has no side buttons which i prefer, get a better hold on the mouse seeing as the side buttons on the db are hardly practically placed anyway.

I've just ordered a Razer Krait 1600dpi simply because I liked the look.

I've seen recommendations for the Lachesis but that's a bit OTT for Quake 3 and occasional CSS.

Using a Copperhead here, but as has been rightly said already, see if you can try a few in-store first and find the one that suits your own, er, grip :)

copperhead here too but last few days my dpi setting has been suddenly dropping in gaming meaning pressing the side button bk up. i tried DLing the newer drivers to have my mouse stop working. only way i could get round it was to run the software on the cd that came with it.

logitech G9 is a extremely good mouse i have no complaints about it, fits my hands perfectly and is weighted nicely, really responsive does what i want it to. its a fantasic mouse highly recommended
