Just saw an ad on TV for the new Kia Ceed... before I realised it was a Kia I actually thought it was pretty damn sleek looking, then when I saw the badge it was kind of a pleasant surprise in the same way as when I first saw the nice SKoda revivals of today.

Doesn't seem too bad!

Anyway what struck me was the warranty that was advertised... 7 years or 100'000 miles... that is simply stonkingly long, over double the average right? Do you think this is just a useful gimmick to get people to buy their cars... or will it mark the start of an increasing warranty length for other companies too?

Kate had one the other day as a hire car. It was hateful.

Ideal car for people who just want a shiny new reg car and care about nothing else though, especially with that sort of warranty.

It looks alright, never been in or seen one in real life, just think of all the extra money they will get from servicing though, so its not all consumer oriented.

Best car Kia have ever made, unfortunately that doesn't say much.

You would have to be utterly insane to buy a new one as the odds are it'll lose half it's value, that's 5-7k, in the first year

7 year warranty? They dont have much faith in what they produce then? :p

Still after this car I doubt they should:

Can't tell if you're joking or not but the 7 year warranty obviously means they have incredible faith in what they've produced.

It looks pretty good in the top picture although I still wouldn't buy one.

buy one 3 years old and you have a cheap as chips car. buy it off a granddad who has only driven it to bowls, and you have a low mileage car with 4 years of warranty left on it =D

Wooo-hoo, can't wait till i'm old now, Kia and bowls here I come!

The Kia Ceed only comes in a 5 door version, the one you have a picture of is the new Kia Pro'ceed. They seem fairly decent, solidly built and a good warranty. The price really puts me off though, just so overpriced :(

My point is that you buy it off someone who is old and only drove it to bowls

I know exactly what you meant... don't let it confuse you.

Do Kia produce their own engines or do they share the platform with another make?

I quite like the look of the car in the OP, the interior looks OK too.
