Cuban President Castro stands down

In a perfect communist state, everybody would have equal status and equal access to the resources of the state. All houses would be the same so it wouldn't matter who lived in which house.

Due to the nature of human beings and their innate desire to obtain more wealth or possesions than their peers, this communist utopia is unattainable but the theory is ideal.

:)

Sigh. All houses cannot be the same - there's a little thing that estate agents like to call location that makes one house worth more than an identical house in a different location.

You said it was the ideal system. I'll carry on stating the obvious if I feel the obvious has been missed by a poster.

Yes, it is the ideal system. However, it does not work in reality because people are too selfish to live by the ideal. Everyone wants more than everyone else; nobody wants true equality.

It's an ideal system made unworkable by human greed. Socialism has the same problem.

Sigh. In a communist utopia, there are no estate agents and nothing is worth anything. The value of such a property would be in the mind of the person viewing it.
The imperfections in a communist world are not caused by the system, they are projections of the imperfections of the inhabitants of the world.

Pure sig material. I can imagine Wise Beard Man saying something like that.

Though to be perfect, it should look like this:

The imperfections in a communist world are not caused by the system, they are projections of the imperfections of the inhabitants of the world. Search your feelings; you know it to be true.

:D

I know that  Nevertheless even in an ideal communist society houses will be in different locations and therefore be more desirable.

And I didn't get an answer, how strange... ;) :D

Trying not to derail the thread. Since that doesn't matter anymore ... Kosovo is a region of Serbia. Serbia deserves democracy.

However since I'm a pragmatist and Kosovo is now an independent country, yes they deserve democracy too. Better than the alternative which I presume would mean an indited war criminal becoming dictator.

Hallelujah, we have a breakthrough! Logic prevails.

As was the case in Serbia.

Yes, but the desirability of the houses would have nothing to do with the style of government - which is what this particular derailment is all about Mr Rolleyes. Any perceived desirability of one house over another is entirely in the mind of the person viewing it.

Your argument all along has been that pure communism is a flawed system of government but you have yet to give a valid reason why. All you have done is point out flaws in the nature of it's inhabitants which would make it unworkable - a fact which no-one has denied.
I know communism cannot work in it's purest sense, I don't need you to sigh and roll your eyes at me to work that out. What I would like you to do is point out to me why communism is imperfect rather than why human beings are imperfect.

Perhaps they would like another Dictator...A certain Mr Blair the forth coming Dictator of the EU.

Better still...let them join the EU, Jeez now that would really screw them up.

Never been a fan of Castrol...Goodbye to bad rubbish imo

Nobody wants true equality because we arent all equal

So basically, if humans weren't greedy self-centred egotists, the world would be a better place ;)

Or if the less able werent so jealous as to pull everyone else down to their level it wouldnt be such a bad place.
