That's the maximum you should be paying anyway. If you're out of contract, then they might do you a better deal than that if you call and threaten to cancel due to the cost.

They seem to offer really good deals to new customers but not so good for the oldies !

I'd rather have sky in all honesty, because I miss the red button matches on sky sports, as invariably the rugby/nfl games I want to watch are on the red button

I'd happily pay virgin another 10quid a month for that functionality and sky one.

This true? The link on virginmedia.com just takes you to their deals, with no mention of the upgrade.

I Rang them after reading this as i was paying £72.50 month for BB (XL), V+ (XL) and additional box (only a fiver).
Told them its not on or i will leave and the best way to get a deal is to agree to have the phone service even if you don't use it. So now i have BB (Small package), V+ (XL) & telephone 24/7 for £30 month. they tell me it would be £44 with XL BB.
I chose the small BB because when you change package you are tied in for a year and always upgrade packages but not downgrade.
