Dog law change - sign this petition please

Another thread of the famous genre..

DOGS VS CATS

(dogs are so much better, why would anyone want a cat?)

Surely it would be a short battle where the Akitas just eat the cats?

I want an Akita :(

Is there any point to these e-petitions? Has there ever been any case of one being successful?

How many of us signed up to the road pricing petition and what happened? Not a lot really, just a nice message from Tony about how road pricing is about "tackling congestion and not about another stealth tax"

I'm willing to bet that road tax will increase, fuel tax will increase and we'll still end up paying on toll roads and the like. These petitions seem to make no difference at all, they just fool people into thinking the government care and that they're listening to the people when they're simply not.

Not signed!

With live in a communist state tbh! Petitions don't get counted! Most decisions are made by mp's! Just we get to vote sometimes so its a democracy!

This, tbh. I'm unsure how this can be considered opinion and not fact. How many of those who have posted actually own dogs?

Its fact, there is too large a body of evidence to suggest that it cannot be fact, certain dogs are inherently dangerous, combine that with some brain dead doss hole dwelling scum bag family and its a recipe for disaster.
I've had 7 dogs in total, and i currently own 1 dog.

I've had:

An Afghan hound
Border Collie
Rough Collie
Labrador
Irish Setter
Springer Spaniel
Dachshund

How can you be for something when you Obviously don't understand the question or the subject.

Pit Bulls are Terriers you Mis informed poster of false hoods :p
(Carefully avoiding a Personal attack there i think ;))

If you're trying to avoid a personal attack it doesn't pay to state as much in your reply ;)

My facts may have been wrong however the meaning was exactly the same as the other posts that are anti the legislation, that certain breeds of dog are more prone to violent outbursts.

ideot! I'm not signing that petition. I hate scum that think they've got balls bigger than the solar system "cos they got a well ard dog innit". I don't have a problem with dogs but I do have a problem with known dangerous breeds and a huge problem with the ***** that train them to fight. Get lost.

Oh please, a whippet could kill a small child and a Chihuahua could easily kill a toddler. Does this not make them dangerous?

If people are responsible and recieved proper training in how to be a 'pack leader' (disclipline, reward etc) then there would be very few dog attacks.

how many responsible people do you know who actually want dangerous dogs?

I will not sign it because it is blatantly obvious to anyone that doesn't require the use of a guide dog that some breeds are more dangerous than others. A Yorkshire Terrier cannot rip your face off whereas a Rottweiler can do it without even giving a sign of aggression.

I would, however, sign a petition to make it the law that ALL dogs should be on a lead and muzzled whenever in public. Quite frankly, there are a lot of humans that require the same treatment now that I think about it.

Yeah, why doesn't that website offer a petition opposing any petition placed there, to allow people to oppose it? What happens if that petition gets 10million sigs, but we'ed never know if one opposing would get 20 million.

So the vast majority suffer because of a tiny minority of idiots, who in all reality would just get the next 'ardest looking dog after rotties, staffies, akitas, bullmastiffs were banned.

ban all domestic cats and dogs..then we wouldnt have dog crap everywhere and cat crap on my lawn!

I won't sign it. As Gilly and others have said, some breeds are inherently more dangeous than others.

The problem many people in this thread seem to be ignoring is that there are differences between how much damage a badly behaved dog can do. A bull terrier or similar, if it attacks, can do a lot more damage than, for example, a spaniel or a labrador, due to the the differences in physiology.

The obvious compromise solution is to bring back dog licences, and create a different class for the dangerous dogs. This would be my choice as I rarely like to ban things, but that would provide a sensible restriction on ownership by those who shouldn't be allowed to own potentially dangerous animals.
