9-Series Lineup Revealed

Someone should, as AMD are not much competition, if they were, then the 9 series would have been out last May sometime, and their next cards would have also been out by now as well.

Its been dead for to long now, even the games scene is dead, what with games keep on getting delayed, its crap.

Yeah id be pleased to, if you have GTX's, Ultra's, and possibly GTS's/GT's even, then the 9 series probably mean nothing to you, you can just pass em.

They only gona be good for those who have the lower cards, like the old GTS's etc..., i can't see a GTX owner, if the 9800 GTX is around £400+, getting their money's worth out of it, for that price you want at least 100fps faster.

Am very tempted now to order one of these cheap ocuk 8800gtx to go SLI http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-051-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=877

(But then again, i don't think i got any games yet that need an 8800gtx SLI setup)

I know we are, but we aint been drip fed at all, drip fed is cards coming out every few months, like they used to do, like about 6 months after the 7800's came out, the 7900's came out, but from November 2006 to March 2008 is pathetic, the 9800's look cack now, as they should have appeared around last May, and chances are we would have had yet another series after them as well by now. :)

So why is this such a big deal?

I love how people on these forums seem to feel obliged to be, what appears to be, quite genuinely ****** off that the next generation of unreleased graphics cards might not be quite as next generation as they'd hoped.

It's rather that a generation in any way should bring new ideas, technologies and features, not just very slightly improve on old ones.

Again a trite comment...

That has no meaning...:o

No meaning?

whats the point of spending full price on a 9800 card that looks like its going to be not much quicker than a 8800 GTX?

if 9800GTX are 80% quicker then superb.. but if only 10 or even 20% then they are a rip off, and people would only buy for the 9800 name, then epeen = enlarged

It doesn't matter what core they are on, they could be on G5000's, wont make any difference, as at the end of the day, they are still 2006 8800's, the 9600 GT is a cut down 8800 GT, the GX2 is 2x 8800 GTS's, the 9800 is yet another 8800, the 9500 etc... are yet more 8800's, 8800's came out in 2006, we don't want them, we want something new, this is 2008 not 2006 still.

Here Here.

Interesting read, nice to see the GPU folk getting on as usual :p, I cringed @ the £475 price tag on 8800GTX when I brought it back in '06, but seriously this has been the best investment I've made on a GPU ever, but like LoadsaMoney says, it has been it bit long in the tooth now, @ this rate it looks like it'll be '09 before we get a true next gen GPU in are machines which is madness tbh.

anyway back on the topic of the 9800's, if someone was to take a 'wild' guess on how much more performance the 9800gtx will have over the current 8800gtx what would you say ? 30% ?
