Latin Quotes

in vino veritas - with wine comes the truth ( popular)

alea jacta est- the luck is trhow away ( Julius César)

consumatum est- last words of Jesus

(I´m not sure of the english translation tbh):D

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? - Who guards the guardians (watches the watchers etc)

I like 'pluralites non est ponenda sine necessitate' - Occam's Razor (the simplest explanation is the most likely...literally 'Do not posit more entities than necessary (for the explanation). It is a general logical principle and Occam's Razor can be used to 'cut' silly ideas.

Also, don't try and literally translate Latin phrases coz most of the time you'll get nonsense...they are idiomatic.

Alea (sp?) iacta est - The die is cast (Julius Caesar, according to Rome TW)

Cogito, ergo sum.
QED - Quod erat demonstratum (I think)
Semper Fi! (fidelis I think) - isn't that a marine corps motto or something? Always faithful/true/virtuous?
I think there was a Latin quote in Dune above the Emperor's throne or room or something that meant 'law is the ultimate science' but I can't remember what it was, and besides, it isn't true.
Bene Gesserit? Well-dipper?
