Today's news is brought to you by the websites BOINCstats and Team Starfire World BOINC Stats ‘N Stones.

Decided to do the news whilst it's half-time. Come on Spurs!

Definitely heading in the right direction – RAC has increased again and we’re starting to pull away from The Planetary Society. Unfortunately we’re only delaying the inevitable stomps from Team 2ch and Team MacNN, but at least we’re putting up a fight!

Some large milestones have also been achieved this week, including CGS hitting 3,500,000 and Biffa reaching 3,000,000

Just back from Wembley, hacked off and grouchy that the Tross is from the darkside.
My head is really gonna hurt tomoz

Heh, sorry mate. Nothing personal of course, I'm just one of those that constantly roots for the underdogs :)

Hmm.. Mr Ludwig shall we try for 100K a piece next week?

Blimey, how much more do your rigs have to give?

What keeps you SETI crunchers crunching? I had a look at the wiki to see if any results have come from your work but it seems nothing significant has been found since 2004.

Is it more about the points system or the cause? Are you all particularly intrigued by the thought of extra terrestrial signals and aspire to be able to say "I helped find the signal"?

Please don't think I'm bashing, I'm not. I run folding@home and often think "is it worth it?" but then I look at the papers that come out of the project and carry on folding (even though most of the biochemistry goes way over my head).

Whats all this then, all the slamming of cell doors has woken me up. I haven't seen anyone down in this part of the dunjins for years, and now so many slackers are barging through that I'm in danger of dropping out of the top 100  !! I've had to turn up the wick again.. honward and hupward and I'll have a bet with meself that me siggy's gone rusty through years of neglect:o
rip van kolala

Well the main difference with Folding is its singular goal, either we detect something or we don't, where as folding has several goals, and its learning something all the time, so therefore can write papers about it. would be a pretty short paper on seti at the moment, "have we found anything....no. the end"

I sort of liken it to an articile about the looking into a vaccine against AIDS. when they started looking 20 odd years ago, they said it would take 10 years, 10 years ago they said it would take another 10 years, today they are admitting it could be another 10 years away. just because they haven't got any closer in finding the vaccine does it mean they are going to quit, hell no.

anyhow good news with the increased production team, keep it up.

and thanks for the news TheTross

Great work on the news again Tross!

What PC is it you crunch on Pumpkin to get 19!? :D

Hello there Mr Ludwig, very nice output you have there!

Good to see the team going up in the world... even if it isn't for long :(

Welcome to the forums Mr Ludwig, hope you enjoy your stay :). And good job with the output! Should be a good battle for top spot this week between you and Biffa.

What keeps you SETI crunchers crunching?

Bit like climbers, its because we can. :)

My major reason for doing either Seti or Folding has not been the science, thats part of it, and probably an extra incentive for it.

Also I don't like getting stomped, and as you know I crunch both, I'll probably stomp someone, eke out a bigger lead over the lizardly one then go back to folding for a little while to stomp back those slackers who stomped me there.

Also I don't like to see us getting walked over as a team in the Seti Rankings.

What PC is it you crunch on Pumpkin to get 19!? :D

An Athlon 64 believe it or not:D

I have several projects crunching on it and SETI gets a low workshare because I don't think B0rkley make good use of the data they get back.
By a fluke only one of the WU's I dumped last week got validated because my quorum buddies were slow.

I normally get into 3 figures in a week, honest I do.:)

Hi Mr Ludwig, good of you to pop in.

What ya got crunching for that output?

Believe it or not, the highest spec machines are a Core 2 E6700 @ 2.66GHz and an Athlon64 X2 4800. The rest are Athlon64 X2 3800's with a few P4's in as well.

As for numbers, I think I'll keep that to myself, but only a few are on 24-hours and there isn't a quad-core or SMP box in sight, well, not yet anyway. :D

Oh, and some of them are crunching ClimatePrediction as well, although I have reduced that a bit after Biffa's 100K challenge.
