I had a nice big thread wrote out but something went wrong and it all disapeared

Anyway, my top 5 (in no order):

Tevez - Scored plenty of goals, fits in with everyone else perfectly. We'll definately buy him permanently.
Torres - Goals, strength, pace, adapted to PL perfectly. Liverpool's new most important player.
Santa Cruz - Probably the best value for money signing this season.
Anderson - No goals yet, but he's been outstanding and made Scholes absence go unnoticed. Not had many (only City I can think of) bad performances with him in the team. Star in the making.
Sagna - Great at going forward and defending. Big fan of fullbacks who make the Neville-esque overlapping runs and Sagna fits into this category.

Worst 5 (in no order):

Nugent - Absolutely rubbish! So bad he's gone out on loan back to the championship. Thought he might be able to handle the PL but he's got a long way to go yet.
Vorinin - Ignoring the fact that he was free, he's been absolutely woeful. Saw him smack a quality goal in in pre-season and thought Liverpool might have sourced a bargain, but as it turns out, they havn't :p
Barton - Yet again nothing but trouble. His performances have been dire too. Really rated him at City but he's gone backwards.
Koumas - Ran the show for West Brom at times, looks a different player at Wigan though.
Malouda - This one might be a bit harsh as he obviously has talent. At the start of the season he looked like he might be a permanent fixture in the Chelsea team but I can't say I've been impressed with him since.

Notable mention for Hargreaves too. Only left him off the list because he's been important for us in the big games. My lists concentrate on PL players but feel free to name any from other leagues.

Malouda isn't even Chelsea's worst signing this season, that goes to Tal Ben-Haim, he's just a clot. Even as a freebie we paid over the odds:o

Torres has got to be the best buy. He's made such an impact, he's got bags of talent, he's also young so he can only improve and his work-rate and desire is excellent.

Worst I'm not sure, as its harder to judge across all teams. But Voronin deffinetly is worst for Liverpool. The fortunate thing about him though was he was free... still paying wages though.

Agreed with most of yours Rip, I'd also add Jagielka, Petrov and Yakubu to the list of the best signings.

Darren Bent surely has to be up there as one of the worst, but tbh as soon as I saw the price tag on him the was no way he was ever going to be worth it.

Anderson has been awesome this season. he's doing a Ronaldo and haveing a good first season and hopefully he will settle like Ronaldo did and dominate the midfield in 2-3 years time.

I'm just going to go and pick one of each for my club(s), because that's more fun :p (and really, that's all anyone is going to do in this thread - name their own team's signings as best of the season):

Arsenal:

Best - Easily Sagna. Comes in, makes right-back his own position in an instant, hasn't put a foot wrong so far this season, and has come back to play after the death of his brother, with barely a blip. Class act, and ace hair.

Worst - Lassana Diarra. Like the anti-Sagna. Appears, plays a bit rubbish, gets dropped. Then sulks about not getting to play as though he has some divine right to, regardless of actual ability. Then buggers off to Portsmouth, but not before making sure they know they're nothing but a stepping stone to him. The most accurate words to describe him are, coincidentally, the same words that you can't use on this forum.

And because I've followed them a fair bit this season, I'll do Hull City too:

Best - Fraizer Campbell (loan). You Man Utd lot need to pay attention here, because you've got a fantastic young talent in this kid. A lot of City fans have already rated him as by far the best loan signing they've ever had, and it shows. Pace, skill, fantastic determination, and scorer of brilliant goals. City are hoping they can keep him/get another loan on him next season, but if he gets noticed, it's going to be a tough ask. Charlton are already thought to be ready to offer £2m, and given Automatic English Player Inflation, he's probably easily worth three times that.

Worst - Jay-Jay Okocha. Suprising I know, and really quite harsh, but Brown (City's manager) hasn't really put a foot wrong in the trasfer market this season, so the "worst" is really the "least good". Okocha has had his moments, but really hasn't set the Championship alight like he was expected to. Plus he had an iffy falling out with the manager for a month or two, and City often have to play out of formation to accommodate him.

Nugent has been injured and is still not 100% hence why it makes sense for Portsmouth to loan him out to someone who will give him first team football and aid his recovery.

hopefully he'll score for us too :D

From a Spurs point of view...

Best: The obvious candidate is Jonathan Woodgate. He's only played four games so far but he's settled our defence and scored the winning goal in a cup final.

Long term, I think Bale is an even greater buy. Stepped up so confidently to Premiership level and he will continue to grow.

Worst: I hate to say it but Bent. 16.5mil is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a bench-warmer. He's obviously someone who needs a run of games to find his best form and he hasn't had that opportunity at Spurs so far. I still believe that he'll come good eventually though.#

Runner up is Kevin Prince Baoteng. It shows how big the gap between the English and German leagues is when you consider who won Premiership Young Player of the Year and how KPB won the German equivalent.

Sagna definitely. Taken to the Premiership like a duck to water. Has literally had one poor performance this whole season.

Anderson, despite all the money paid, looks worth every penny. A quality prospect.

Sven made some quality signings too.

I'd say Sagna has been a top class signing. He is a superb player with what seems like an awesome attitude to match it. Whenever he goes down he doesn't roll around like many players nowadays, he springs back up and runs back. He hasn't set a foot wrong defensively and has fit into the Arsenal team brilliantly. Can't sing this guys praises enough! I am a fan.

Santa Cruz because before he joined Blackburn he had something like 3 goals in 9 years for Bayern (possibly a slight exaggeration) is one of the best signings this season. Although others have come close:

Carlos Tevez (United), Torres (Liverpool) are two other big names that have done very well this season.

As for the worst, Darren Bent has been very poor and add to that anyone signed by Newcastle this season. Steve Sidwell at Chelsea is another.

As for most improved player (a new category I decided to add) there is Jermaine Jenas.

Definately Sagna for Arsenal, quality in every aspect. Makes a mockery of Eboue really. Torres has looked superb for Liverpool when they play him ;).

I think Santa Cruz had a good record before last season where he didnt score 1 goal lol.

The best signing of the season for me so far is Everton getting Pienaar in on loan with a transfer fee already agreed. I really don't think we'd be in 4th without him and really suffered during the ACN.

I'm also going to jump on the Darren Bent bandwagon for worst signing. Crazy money for an average player in my opinion. Not really his fault, just the typical price premium on emglish players.

I think Santa Cruz had a good record before last season where he didnt score 1 goal lol.

Nope it was pretty poor. Never into double figures, 38 goals in 188 games for Bayern.

Has to be Sagna for us, although Eduardo was starting to settle.

Santa Cruz was a bench warmer for the majority of his time at Bayern.

Best:
Santa - great first season much like mccarthys.
Piennar - has been the 'quiet performer'..really good player from what i've seen
Tevez - settled in really well and is scoring
Sagna - made the rb position his own. quality player
Anderson - big future ahead of this kid from what hes shown already

Worst:
Pizarro - he is just ****
Ben Haim - whenever he plays you know he will be the player that will make the costly mistake
Bianchi - only lasted 6 months
Bent - As above. Too much for a player that only cost £2/3m a few seasons before. but has been injured / not given much of a chance
Vorynin - like pizarro
