Reyland Escort @ Brunters

Sounds savage in that video, although martin himself said he launched it like a girl as it was half a second slower than the old one to 100. It will do 200, no doubt about that, and he was less than 1 mph off the "no gas" top speed record for a cossie.

I went to bunters yesterday to tag onto a fast ford mag thrash and managed 163 in the old girl. Good fun, but I've blown the head gasket and poss cracked the block/head as it dropped its coolant at 160+ due to a dodgy jubilee clip on a hose. :(

Awesome, just squats and goes, within about 7 seconds you cant even see it anymore on the video! :D

If all the cars are there on Friday ill be having a look, dropping an engine off with Martin in the afternoon :)

This was brought up in IRC last night, the conclusion was that while we have nothing but respect for the time and engineering skill which is put into these cars, why the hell (given the budget they clearly have) do they build them around ancient old fords?

What should they be doing it to instead then?

Is an Escort Cosworth really regarded as "ancient"? Most are around 14 years old.

There is a MASSIVE market for Ford tuning, always has been and probably always will be. Companies like MAD, HT Racing, Burton Power, Reyland and many others will be in demand for some time to come.

Wash your mouth out with soap boy :D

On a separate note, is that Escort road legal, if so need to sort them reversing lights out :D.

Don't spit your dummies out lads, it was clearly Gilly's rather individual, roundabout way of asking how/why Ish posts all the Reyland stuff.

And I'm bloody glad he does. The day Ish stops posting ala Reyland is the day Motors goes Jonestown.

Have seen this car at Castle Combe and it really does shift :D

The Cosworth lump used has probably had more development for big power than most other engines which I expect is part of the reason Reyland stick with 'old Fords' - owners of such cars constitute their main customer base, and with all the work done to extract big power with ever improving manufacturing techniques, and the know-how related to these engines gained since the 1980s, long may it to continue!
