Basicly in work i have been asked to look into a disaster recovery plan in case the worst happens.

just interested in what ideas and plans some of you have in place in work.

Mine involves:

Backup of all servers as disk images to NAS using UltraBac.
Backup of NAS to tape - kept offsite overnight.
Extra copies of disaster recovery DVD app for UltraBac (and on USB Key)
Backup of all CD media for key apps.
Copies of Disk utilities and Ubuntu Linux
Hardware list for complete rebuild of IT infrastructure with a copy kept at our key supplier.
Ultrabac manual

Main strategy is to recover the image files to virtual servers in the event of a disaster. UltraBac does a good job of Physical to Virtual migrations. It also means that I don't have to worry too much about getting identical hardware to what we had previously. This is real belt and braces stuff though, and as such the project to set this up cost quite a bit!

Fully resilient live systems split between london and reading datacenters, all data replicated to both locations and backed up to a third site, backup data archived to tape weekly and stored by Iron Mountain.

Costs as much as you'd think it would have course but its fool proof and instant failover
