BMW drivers

He is taking the mick.

There's a fair share of BMW drivers living up to the stereotype out there, but I'd say there's more 4x4 drivers who drive like aggressive Neanderthals. Would you have started a thread like this if it had been a Mitsubishi Pajero, not a BMW X5?

Even better if it were another Micra that was doing it, he wouldn't think twice about the Micra doing it. :)

My car is the best and I do own the road. I pay more road tax than you. Get out of my way.

You only own part of the road don't you? The outside lane from what I gather :)

Not wanting to tar and feather all BMW drivers but I have to admit that X5 drivers from my personal experience are the worst. There's a guy I see on the A40 who just seems to bully his way through the traffic, get around to the B&Q building near Greenford and there he, only managed to get a few cars in front for all his bullying.

You are missing the real problem here. If you guys in inferior, crappy cars were not in our way blocking up our roads, we'd have no need to tailgate you and overtake you.

The sooner you learn your place and pull over the better. We dont THINK we are better than everyone else on the road, we ARE better than everyone else on the road.

lol

Well put!
It annoys me the Ford drivers etc... hogging the outside lane at 90..I mean WTF get out of my way.

A flash of the lights usually does the trick :p

As somebody already pointed out, it's always a BMW driver that gets the rap... and this is because; if you are behind a car that suddenly breaks to turn a corner without indicating... its normally a BMW!!!

Stereo types are there for a reason, no smoke without fire :)

It used to be that the BMW badge meant Pedigree, well built and expensive motors. Some of that is still true, but ultimately it now also means, twits who think better of themselves because they own a car that has become so common its not funny.

Bear in mind I have a micra?

Another stereotype...

2) Doing this is dangerous and makes you an idiot

Tapping the brakes might be dangerous but it puts the ******** up old arse intruder behind you. It's the one most annoying thing for me on the road, when someone is wedged up your rear and there is clearly no space for you to pull in.

True but if the div behind slams on and causes a pile up a lot of people just minding their own business are likely to get caught up in it.

I either just ignore them or, if I get wound up, play the fun game of drop to third and foot to the floor :p

Because of the stupidly high boot on the Octavia I can't see people flashing their lights if they are close behind me anyway :p

I tend not to brake, but to just back off the throttle, gradually getting slower until they back off.

Same, but if I'm being hounded for an unreasonable distance I'll tap the brakes in a kind of, "go on sunshine, smash your shiny child-plough into me and then see how quickly you get to your destination" gesture

You call him an idiot for doing 'in excess of 100' in a powerful motor even though your doing 95 in a Micra and decided to fake a braketest ?

There's no need to brake, just take your foot off the accelerator.

Sounds like you were both being muppets.

Joking aside the OP does have a point... some random thoughts.

BMW drivers ARE in fact different than 95% of motorists. Let me explain... sure, they are fine cars, built by zee Germans, nice quality, nice spec, cost above average new BUT.. most people buy them because of the badge alone.

Buying this higher 'breed' of car makes them think they are above their peers, it's all very sad.. and it's pretty much the only make of car used as 'penis extension' that is, well.. slightly limp. (generally so, m series is a exception)

Most BMWs on the roads seem to be second hand, same price as a average family car new... why is this ?, do they not make brand new BMWs ?, fact is only rich businessmen in search of a luxo motorway barge want them new.. and once they find something better to sleep in they chop them in and let the poor people have them. (ie fox ;-)

One thing though, if someone wants to speed and your holding them up on purpose they you are as bad as them imho. What gives you the right to slow someone down... you don't know his reasons, hell maybe his wife was in labour lol

Oh and remeber the Japer Carrot sketch from years back...

'car driving along at 70mph, porker screams past at 140... wife says 'he wont get there any quicker'

'ermmm, twice as quick love :-)'

ps: Fox, you have yet to mention 'headlight washers' in this thread

Best and most accurate summing up of BMW drivers I've ever seen :D

Although to be fair, there are some genuinely fantastic cars outside of the M series too. Not my COT atall, but some great cars all the same.

I have a love hate relationship with BMW drivers :p hate the way a lot of them drive but one thing I always know with a BMW driver is that theyre awake at the wheel and on the ball most of the time :p

Or they buy them because they are excellent cars.

I am better than most people regardless of what car I drive.

Most of any model of car on the roads will be second hand unless it is a recently introduced model.

There are BMW owners out there that give the rest a bad name but it's the same for any car. Less often do you see Porsche or Mercedes owners ranting about "BMW drivers", it's usually those with crap cars who have the problem.

Besides, all Micra drivers are inept menopausal women with no driving skills or spatial awareness. They're usually the aunt that never got married and never had any children, you know the sort. Men who drive a Nissan Micra are homosexual. FACT!

I had a BMW and a TVR at the same time.
I had a BMW and a Scooby 22B at the same time (briefly!).
I had a BMW and a Peugeot at the same time.
I had a BMW and an Alfa at the same time.
I had a BMW and an Audi at the same time.

This shows how generalisations and perceptions of such drivers, based on nothing more than the car they are sat in at any one time are simply idiotic with no foundation more often than not. TVR and Alfa drivers are often held up by other such fools as "good chaps" who appreciate the purity of their cars, yet I was the same bloke each time I drove any of them. That bloke was not someone who undertook, sat 5 feet from your bumper, raced around with his shades on and his window open while listening to some jiggy jiggy 'music', worked selling houses or thought £40K per annum was a well off wage and anyone who didn’t earn that much was to be derided, walked over or looked down on.

No question that many people who drive BMW’s buy them because they have odd aspirations or feel they need to be seen in one to fit in with their image, but in my experience the VAST majority of BMW drivers, especially in the newer ones buy them because they have driven several different types of car and simply prefer the BMW for what they seek, and improving their image is not one their reasons.

Have I ever sat in the outside lane of a motorway and flashed someone who has sat there for miles, with nothing inside them or without looking in their mirror during that time while in a BMW well yes, and while in about 10 others types of car too. Do I get nervous when I see a Muslim on an underground train with a ruck sack?

Of course not, I only use taxi’s as undergrounds are full of scum! ;)
