Virgin to Increase speed for free

i was only getting about 5 or 6 meg most of the time and i was paying for the 20 meg service. now with this new modem im getting about 18 meg from it. just did a speed test and this is what im getting

I've been waiting 2 days now to be put on 4mb from 2mb. Everytime i phone they say its fine their end and it takes 24hrs.

Modem config still states i'm on 2mb :mad:

Finally got an english guy on the phone. Am now on 4mb :)

Sorry to take over the thread a little bit, but i've heard a lot of talk about 50mb broadband coming, but how do people know this? and since they do know it why is it so unknown when it's coming? or the details of it? as i've now heard another story it'l be here in 3 months with a 3£ increase for 20mb users, but that seems a bit too unbelievable for such a good deal, Many Thansk to whoever can help :D

People know it's coming because VM have announced it. People don't know all the exact details because VM haven't announced them yet. From info that has been leaked it will be at least a £10 increase over the listed price for 20Mb.

As far as i know, the download speed will be 10mb and upload is 512k. The download limits go from 800mb to 1.5GB between 4pm-9pm. If broken, speed is reduced to 2.5mb. Which, to be fair, isn't bad at all considering this is a free upgrade :)

Cancelled my 20meg 8 months ago and moved to ADSL - plugged my modem in the other day for a laugh........it's still got 20meg coming through it :eek:
 
Well I only upgraded the other week to 4meg..just thought i would give it a try to see if i noticed any differance... well i have.. so it looks like i may well be on there upgrade to 10meg..say were do i get the smiley faces from .. its only my second post thanks for sharing that info just made me happy.
NTL northwest also got the new 256 modem last week too so no problems ahead hopefully
 
i used to have a great 20mbit line up until about 6mths or so ago now it's contention city between 4pm-1am, hovering around 10-12mbit at best.

hopefully the hardcore leechers will move to 50mbit tier and open up the 20mbit for us part-time leechers.

It took them that long? I upgraded to 4mb from 2mb afew days ago at about 8pm, checking the modems stats it got upgraded at 4am the next morning. They didn't even call to confirm.

Yea they hadn't done it properly. I kept getting people telling me i was on L package, then other people telling me i'm on M package, i was back and forward but eventually got a guy who did it for me, phew.

Now i've got a phone call saying my next bill is £320 something quid. LMAO i'd like to know where thats come from.

Getting sick of it!
 
At last ive been upgraded from 4 to 10 meg it happened today i think but not sure,
I kept checking the progress link but i assumed Eastham would be under (Baguley area) Birkenhead only thing is according to that its still under construction TBC maybe the list needs updating hope you get yours soon Davy from Eastham on the Wirral

I jsut made a big list of everythign I wanted to download, upgraded to 20mb for a month, downloaded 24/7 then downgraded back to 4mb!
