Maybe this is Sony's secret game that they've had in production for some time? I somewhat doubt it though. I'd be very surprised if this was released any time soon to be honest.

No way, as much as I would love to see it this year .... it will be march 09 as all other GOW games have been released in march.

And PS3 has a lot of AAA titles coming this year, best to keep GOW3 till next year along with FF13.

Theres plenty of AAA titles coming next year too - FF13, GT5, RESI5 etc. etc.

You wont see it until atleast Xmas 2009, taking into account that going from GoW 1 > GoW 2 they had a lot of the work already done from the previous game. Now they have to work with a new platform and possibly a new game engine.

There is also the fact that GoW 2 has only just been out a year now (or close enough).

Yeah pretty much the same as i think, may even see a bit more at TGS this year. With insomniacs and others sharing tech tips with other Sony devs it may not be as long to make as some people think. Pretty sure Corey Balrog said that the story was complete before he left and i even think David Jaffe had a bit of input into GOW3.

With GT5 and FF13 coming next year it HAD a lot of AAA titles coming this year, now there's only Metal Gear Solid 4 that comes to mind immediately (and I've always been vocal in saying I think it will disappoint - like the last 2).
I'm hoping Killzone 2 is a surprise and Resistance 2 should be excellent.

GT5 and FF13 were never coming this year dude.

And I'm really starting to think Killzone 2 will be next year too unless they get it out quick, they are stupid if they release it anywhere near Resistance 2.
