Stalker, havnt touched it since release, advice?

If theres one thing I'd criticise it for, it would be the AI. Sometimes they go nuts and bunch together for some reason, other times they just franticly run back and forth in loops; worst one is where they fail to act when their friends are being attacked. I found this most apparent near the end where they were acting very dodgy and practically giving away free kills:

Your screeny highlights the most annoying thing in the game for me..........
No matter what suit you wear Marked One always has the same ***** fingerless gloves and tatty jumper.
Being a big Oblivion fan I find touches like that and lack of 3rd party view a bit rubbish in this day and age.

Just got though playing the game again. Even though I know the ending, I still love the atmosphere it creates.

Just wish the mods with new storylines where more stable, well, stable for me anyway lol.

Can't wait for Clear Sky :D

stalker is kick a$% game you should play it id does not require uber leet pc to play it. brileant game

1 thing i dont like about a stalker is weapon sounds they not really sound good but game play compensates for it in end of the day Ukrainians made the game and Russians ect if they make a game they make brilliant game play ;)

I bought the game last week based upon reading these few Stalker threads. Can't install it though as there is no cd-key. Before I send it back can somebody with the game please confirm that there should be a cd-key on the back of the manual. Mine has a box at the bottom of the page with the title "cd-key" but it is blank! Annoying to have a legit game (sealed from reputable mail order store) in my hand but not be able to play because of the copy-protection. Thanks

That's weird.
Yes, mine has the CD-key in that white box, at the bottom on the back of the manual.

I have just picked this up today as it was on offer. Am really happy with it so far, though only done a couple of the missions at the beginning.

Looks really nice, though i get a bit of lag loading textures, especially when you first come out of the underground bit at the beginning of the game.

Other than that i am looking forward to the rest of it, and get my new 22" Hann-G monitor next week as it is on order so will be nice to have it on a nice big screen.

Really getting into it now, but it's getting tough, need better armour and more ammo, wish I'd done an easier difficulty level! Are the AK and viper smg* both meant to be rubbish at range? I can't hit anything with them!

*I think that's what they're called?

Yes, you have to switch to single-shot mode and be crouching to get any accuracy with those. Most of the early weapons are rubbish but the later weapons are very nice indeed.

You can change the difficulty at any time mate.

I am busily trying to backtrack through savegames to find a point where the "find the X18 lab entrance" mission completes and I can then go on to complete it by returning the documents to the barkeep. A thread post on another forum mentioned something about not going to Yantar first but didn't think I had. Some very frustrating things like that in the game. Thinking about reinstalling it and patching to 1.0004 only so I can run some mods and then start again in earnest.

Loved this game, played it all the way through and managed to fluke it by seeing the guide and getting the decoder the first time. I'd echo what everyone has said that the last level is the best... make sure to go back if you didn't play it.

Looking forward to some mods so I can re-play it once again.

Trade values are pants

Run round like a nutter checking every body, dog , zombie etc and collecting every dog tail, zombie hand, snork foot etc and running back to the trader to get enough money to buy the SEVA Suit, 62K ffs  then later on I bloody well find one in a safe in one of the railway buildings you have to enter through the roof! so now I have two I think hmmmm sell one to trader only for him to offer 22K ffs cheapskate git

This is deff one of the best games the more you play the more you enjoy it the second time round is much better than the first :D

I finished the game on my old system with all settings turned down and I still remember it looking great and the atmosphere was excellent.

Now I'm now replaying the whole game from start on my new system with everything maxed out. It's not quite like a new game but it is like the same great game in a whole new world. It's amazing, its really like you're just wandering through massive open fields and spaces and you can go wherever you want.

So far, even better than the first time. :)

When does it come up to tell you to go find the guide ???

I have turned off the brain scorcher and don't want to go into pripyat as if I do you can't get back out and I will be stuck with the false ending again.

I have trekked back to the duty camp Rostock I think but they were enimies as I helped Freedom fight the duty squad at the farm.

Anyhow I have killed every one in Rostock and only the barkeeper lives lol
Need him to trade with hehehehe

Thats if I havn't ballsed up and am now not going get the chance to meet the guide ???

Help anyone?

Yer I have to say this is one game I find very immersive. The screams, the sound of the wind and then a sudden downpour and storm is just awesome. As for that poltergeist thing that throws tin cans and boxes at you in the labs.........filled my boxers a couple of times. Just wish they had sorted the missions and their habit of b0rking themselves. Going to focus on reinstalling and patching to 1.0004 this week and have to start again I guess. I hate savegames that don't transfer.
