9800 Prices

new gts, probably an 8800gtx with a new sticker on the hsf and a bios crippling the clock speeds somewhat. =/

A straight conversion from euro to GBP makes the gx2 £420+VAT!!!

That is insane, if that is the price why on earth have Nvidia bothered? The 3870X2 will just wipe the floor with it

Yup, even if it is faster than an X2 (likely), you could still add another 3870XT for Tri-Fire and have cash in your pocket over the 9800GX2...

The card will cost €399 and it will have 768MB of memory.

And it has a 256-bit memory bus? Doesn't add up, it'd either have to be 192, 384 or 768-bit. Somebody somewhere is telling us all crap.

When the end user gets the cards we will know the truth as to if or how much it beats the X2(think it will and i own a X2) but at them price's unless the GX2 is double the speed who will buy one other then fanboys.As for the new GTX might well beat the x2 but thats still a lot of money and i cant see it being much better than the current GTX.Sell old GTX for silly money to buy new GTX when a sli mobo and other old GTX would be better is sli and cheaper.

PS.now we know why the price's have droped so much on cards like the new GTS cause there making another one 3-4 months after the release of the 2nd gen GTS.

Sigh the GFX market is so dull right now.

We have cards using Xfire/SLI but that doesn't benefit us in every game gah.

Yup the gfx market at the minute is very stale. Be nice to hear about true next gen cards instead of die shrunk cards.

yeah, right now it seems that both nvidia and ATI are focusing on multiple-graphics solutions
ATI with CrossfireX and nvidia with tri-SLI

then there is ATI R700 and nvidia GT200 to look forward to :cool:

GX2 = £420
X2= £290
Difference = 44%

So if the prices work out at this, the GX2 will have to show atleast a 44% increase in performance to be a better option than the X2.....

I fear nVidia may have got this one wrong.

You can get X2's for less than that so the price gap is even larger...
