The armed forces.

There is even a certain poster on here who has said on more than one occaision he supports British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan getting attacked, so I guess it is quite common :(

WTF?

Hopefully some banage will be coming his way sometime soon.

Now if only we could get a British banhammer, and send em all to Europe.

Could you please let me know who this is?

I honestly think people caught doing this should just be killed, no questions asked, no excuses.

Thats a bit much IMO, but I do think that a damn good kicking in public would be a good idea. People like this need their spirit broken - much like the army supposedly does to make you a better person.

Yep his name is @tif R@fiq

Isn't his position simply that he supports any country's right to defend itself from occupation? Obviously in the Iraqi situation the logical result is that British soldiers would be attacked but I don't think that is his express desire.

Officers should be allowed to beat civillians, give those yobs a lesson with their marching sticks or even their swords.

Actually officers get a commission allowing them to kill, and order their soldiers to kill. A soldier in the army cannot kill unless under order from an officer.

Without the man being here yet to give his own views that is roughly what I understand his position to be.

Abuse of the armed forces or indeed public servants in general that is unprovoked is not acceptable to my mind. You don't have to love them or support them per se but any unprovoked abuse to anyone shouldn't be tolerated.

If the soldier is given an order by a superior that contrevenes the act of war, yes.

What have the UK armed forces done which contravenes this piece of legislation you seem to have dreamt of? (Not to say there are not numerous treaties and conventions to be followed but at least cite a correct one...and insert it into my question).

Our armed forces are the most professional in the world. Of course there are always a couple of instances such as the cases of prisoner abuse in Iraq which unfortunately happen, and in no way do I condone, those people who committed them have been charged. But to look at the amazing work that our armed forces have done, make those unfortunate tarnishes on our name pale into the shadows. The fantastic work under taken through the United Nations in Africa, Cyprus and the middle east. The work to rebuild society in Afghanistan after the tyranny imposed by the Taliban (not to mention the previous governor of Helmand Provence prior to our arrival). The work of our troops is nothing but heroic.

However the choices made by our leaders, the people we all chose to best represent our interests (first past the post system aside, a grumble about that at another time perhaps) have not allways been the best ones and it is those people that need to be held accountable to your concerns not those in our armed forces.

ok my 2p's worth, having served for 10 years now in the army, and served in Iraq and Afghan each on more than one occasion, all i can say is that most of the time its not great, have been shot at had ied's go of round me been in a vehicle when its been blown up and quite a fair bit more, the public dont get to she the bigger picture and only see wht the media want you to see. I feel i have made a change to both Afghan and Iraq, not only have i helped people from lifes that nobody should live in, to opeing schools and educating children out there, i can tell you when one of thses kids smiles and says thank you with a huge smile they really mean it, and it hits you quite hard, somthings are hard to explaine but to belive it you have to do it.

I have lost 2 real mates out there and 4 people that i new, and im looking forward for when i next go.

for those who question the war, just tell me what you have done with your life that has made 100s if not 1000s of lives better for others!

Oh, ive never received any abuse whilst in uniform as im in Germany living in a forces community, however if i was to get it in ahigh street, im the better man to just let it go.

"and them find them down town and kick seven bells of crap out of them"

I haven't killed any Iraqi people with state sanctioned murder.

Give them a camera helmet each and when they get abused, hit, attacked, walk away...

Then get the video to the 'black bag' guys and let them abuse, hit and attack the guy on the film and see how they like it. To attack one of them, if they are in uniform or not, in their own home country is crazy. They should be able to fight back with as much force as they can and batter the twerp... IMO

Still, its a good story to deflect people from the EU vote i guess. Not that im suspicious of this goverment lol...

I live in peterborough and thats where they have banned the raf wearing there uniform i think it is out of order they are serving there queen and country and i think people should respect them for it. its only the minor majority of people that dont.

respect our armed forces

I agree that we should respect our armed forces. I also agree that it is just a tiny minority of people that are direspecting our armed forces. Which is what makes the decision by the base commander all the more strange.
