Hrm traffic light cameras

I was on my way home tonight after a particularly crap day at work, and went through an Amber light (no way was I slamming on my brakes with the wet road), as I got to the lights on the other side of the junction the light turned from amber to red. I thought I saw a flash behind me, but maybe I'm being paranoid (could have been headlamps from a car going over a bump).

Just wondering - if it *was* a camera, can they only do you if the first light at the junction you went through was red?

*tired after a 13 hour shift and my mind may be playing tricks on me* (I'm normally super paranoid with green lights and slow down a bit if it's been green a while, but just wanted to get home so ran the Amber)

If you'd been flashed they would make a descision if it was safe for you to stop, obviously if it happened the way you describe, I wouldn't worry.

Redlight cams usually only snap you "as" you pass the red light and not as you pass an orange one :) (I think anyway)

I thought I did the same thing in London a few times but never received a ticket or anything!

Cheers, West, makes me feel better. Last time I tried slamming the brakes for an amber was a scary experience so learned that lesson already (no ABS either) :)

EDIT: Had a nightmare journey home with that worry and a ******* bus cutting me up pulling out sans indicateurs - almost forced me into a traffic island :( Bleh. Also, shocked at the amount of speed cameras I came through from Croydon to Dartford... really does make you feel like Big Brother is watching!

You usually have a few seconds grace too. Passing through a light as it changes won't set them off, only if your taking the mick going through miles too late.

Doubt you were flashed. You'd know it man, especially if it was dark! I've seen em go off and i was a good ways over on the other side when someone got done behind me, swore it turned to day for a second. I had a bad driving day Friday, tires hit the curb twice on a road i travel daily and know the narrowness, tiredness really dosen't help.

Cheers chaps, I'll sleep better now :) By the sounds of it it was probably just someone's headlights (bumpy roads around there). :D

No they wont - the amber light is what this is for. If it was amber as you approached it, you should have stopped - the lights are timed that if its green, you'll make it through.

If you got flashed, you've been done. If not, dont worry about it.
