We paid a deposit on the wifes next car today. True to a womans sense of consistancy, it's not a summer toy OR a sensible 5 door family car, but it's small and nice.

Only 2 owners (Avis & Capt. Kirk) but it's got a stamp every 10k for a service and is spotless inside apart from a rub on the drivers seat bolster. Admittedly it'd be quite difficult to wear out acres of plastic, but what's there is clean :D

Dozens and dozens of bhp from the 1L engine won't pull the skin off a rice pudding but should hopefully keep the fuel bills down too :D (done 1200 miles in the 3 weeks she's had the hire car).

I don't have the urge to borrow the wifes car anymore either (it's no 306 dturbo :()

mutter mutter hundred and fourty sumit mutter mutter

Works out to something mad like 100 miles a day :D

Intergalactic mileage but it's got FSH from Seat, last service was 2k ago.

i've driven a tdi one of them, the brakes are well easy to overheat so watch out!

...because his wife's really going to find that an issue ;).

I'm assuming based on your other threads that you got this for somewhat of a bargain? I'm thinking high end PC money.

Cannot argue with an 04 plate car from a decent manufacturer for the sort of money you pay regardless of what it is or what the mileage is. Congrats. Bargain

Superb bargain SB118

but imagine the poor sods who have done mega mileage in one of those :p

Will be ideal for your wife though!

We're lucky that Her boss is a soft touch, We know we've got a grand coming from the insurance payout, so he was happy to advance us that and we've made a few hundred flogging the bits we took off the old car (and the bits we kept from our first 306). The kittens that arrived a few weeks ago are going to their new homes, so there's a few quid to come from them too, and we can pull the last few quid out of the bank.

Absolutely on our arses skint for the next week or so (thank god we've just gone over to a monthly electric meter from the prepayment!), but this was too good to resist.

This is a far better plan than buying old sheds that fall to bits all the time. Its cost you a bit more but it's a decent, solid car which will give you a good few years use without many hassles.

Good move.
