Might as well put it up, i'm sure it would emerge sooner or later as i plan on going to the next Breakfast Club meet, so i dare say it would have got snapped up then!

A little about the car...

Its had 2 previous owners before me, covered 46,000 Miles on an X plate (2000) over the 8 years its been 'alive'. Before i purchased it, it was put through an MOT (which it flew through) and the Cambelt etc was changed. Itc currently SORN'd until i get my Renewal papers through from my Insurers so i can go ahead and insure it with someone else.

Apart from a few stone chips on the bonnet, its pretty mint. The cage is a "Dimma" show cage, and will have to be removed as my GF's little girls car seat won't sit properly when its in there, so it will have to go. The wheels... are very Marmite, i personally don't think they are *too* bad, but i do think some GTi180 Wheels may well be on the cards in the future.

I've know the car for the past 4 years so i know that its been looked after, some (well, actually probably most) will reply with "why have you bought that" etc etc but tbh, i'm really happy :) I've saved religiously for the past 6 months or so to buy a car that i liked, and i'm very pleased with what i have :)

I'm already well aware of peoples opinions on the car, i was before i even bought it, but please try and leave the bitching out ;)

So, pics...

/edit - The bonnet isn't locked in position, hence why theres a gap, and i have the Original grill to back in because i hate the cut-out left in the middle, just waiting on the SP mesh to be delivered for it.

I like it, looks pretty nicely done. Nothing too over the top on it- even the alloys suite it.

Whats with the cage?

Also, what engine?

:)

Dude :( I thought it was bad when you said you'd bought a 206 but to then discover its a barryboys candidate as well?

What were you thinking? I thought you were going to take advantage of the fact you had £4k to spend to buy something nice that wasnt a bodged shed? You've considered some really good cars and instead youve bought that?

Even in standard form they were not very good :(

And a Dimma 'Show Cage'? Is there honestly anything more daft than a 'Show Cage'?

What on earth made you pick this over a 406 Coupe, Clio 172, Focus 2.0 etc? You had so many great cars to chose from :(

The cage is a show cage, it doesn't really have a purpose apart from to look nice, i suppose. I don't mind it, but it would probably do more harm than good if anything ever did happen. It fits in with 4 bolts so it will come out when i have time to do so, in no rush at the moment as it won't be on the road until April now :)

Its 2.0 16v but the early version, 140ish bhp iirc.

OK car, not so much a fan of the alloys or the krill catcher on the front.

Also I'm confused as to why it needs a cage (as in why the previous owner put it in).

If you are happy with it though, that's what matters. :)

The cage as I said earlier on tonight on MSN, serves absolutely no purpose. Even as a "show cage" it hardly makes the car any more OMGWOW to look at. Please don't keep it in any longer than necessary. Oh and it certainly does not look nice, I'm afraid. Also where is the grille man?

The best thing about the cage is that everyone will ask what its for when they see the car.

'Wow, why is there a cage thing there?'
'Well, it's a safety cage becuase this is a stripped out rally car. Oh wait no, its actually a pretend cage just for show' :(

Apart from the dangerous show-cage and the lower mesh grille, I like it. :)

The wheels wouldn't be my first choice, but they suit the car better than others I've seen.

Have you booked it into a garage yet - wont be long im sure !

Sorry thats harsh.

I had a Pug 206 for 4 years as a company car a few years ago and had nothing but problems with it which they could never sort out.

Thing is its your car and whatever makes you happy is all that matters. Enjoy it :)

Hardly bodged :)

I liked it, so i ran some Insurace quotes, had a drive of a few etc but decided to buy this one. At the end of the day wheels can be changed, the cage can be removed which leaves a nicely spec'd car (for me, anyway).

Thing I dislike the most about the 206 is that the whole dashboard is just absolutely awful - I had to fix a friends leaky 206CC roof once (I suck at DIY but I rock at liberally applying electrical insulating tape) and the rock hard plastics were just awful.

If you are happy with it thats all that matters but I genuinelly thought you were going to get something that was actually good - you certainly had the money for some really nice cars.
