New Car - BMW M5 (E39)

Very nice, what sort of milage on it? Does it have drilled brakes etc? Just wondering as we've got a 51 plate with 80k on the clock without and I thought they were standard

The thing that amazed me is that even at 60-70 it'll pin you back in your seat in 6th gear! Amazingly torquey engine :)

That is impressive!

Can I ask an incredibly dull and boring question without being shot? How many revs is 90mph in 6th? :D

Off the top of my head... about 3,000rpm.

Will check for sure later ;)

Reasonable cruising gear then. I do love the idea of a seriously powerful, long legged tourer.

I'd be banned in about 10 minutes though. I can't imagine sticking to 2 figure speeds is particularly easy :p.

Just got in, it's pretty much exactly as I said (at indicated speed). It's a shame it's not a little taller really, as you can reach silly speeds in 5th, so you don't really need 6th for accelerating.

I guess if it was too much taller though it'd not be usable at slower cruising speeds.

Very nice :D

I loved tomo's M5 (the old one, not the new pooofy slush box one :p) the sound and performance was great ..

One thing i'd like to ask is, whats the steering feel like, i know the 530 has rack and pinion but the M5 has a recirculating ball which on all accounts lacks feel even with the assistance?

Great car Peter, congrats. Am I right in thinking you're only a couple of years out of uni and on the Accenture grad scheme? Sheesh you're obviously doing very well there, good to see you're celebrating your success in the right way :D

Buying one is easy - you can buy one for the cost of a new Astra. Running one... that's where it'll cost you ;).
