Question for the forum on a possible new section...

Hey guys,

Just out of interest, who on here would think a Books and Literature section within the life section of the forum would be good?

I am an avid reader and would like to talk more about books and such with other readers on this forum (and I know you guys are on here!).

Anyone else think this would be a good sub-forum, or not?

Don't remember it being asked, but don't see the worth in a sub/new forum for it.

GD is the perfect place to discuss it. We've had books/literature threads in the past that have gone well.

Agreed. If you start adding sub forums where do you stop? I love cooking and there are a fair few threads on that, you could add so many sub forums it would be ridiculous.
 
Yeah, I agree. However, I think that books and literature would be more worthy of a sub-forum than something like love and relationship advice, which I'm pretty sure has been suggested.

I like the idea of keeping it in GD. :)
 
I think it would be a good sub forum, sometimes the masses of GD can be a nightmare, especially in long threads where multiple things (in the same subject) are being talked about.
If there was a poll, i would vote yes :]
 
A cooking section gets my vote! It'd be easier to turf up inspiration for tonight's tea if they were all in the same place...

But at the same time, the GD massive would kill a lot of threads with stupid comments.
Places like Motors and SA are generally free from the GD fools, making it much nicer and cleaner than GD.

Carry on diluting the content of GD and you'll get those 'GD fools' you mention posting everywhere else :)

Indeed, but they often drop to the third page in a couple of hours under a flood of "spec me some shoe laces" and "what is your favourite soup" threads. While such threads make up a lot of the light hearted flavour of GD, it can do a disservice to a 'quality' thread that might deserve a longer term on the first page.

Well obviously there are some that want it, else this thread wouldn't be here.

I'm managing expectation - it isn't going to happen :)
