So some of you probably remember me fixing up the Honda Accord Aerodeck the gf crashed in to the house. Well she crashed it again this time into another car at a junction two days after I scrapped my spares car which had the bits on that could have repaired it this time.... So I give up new car time. £1500-£2000 budget
Need/Want
Decent MPG as do 20k a year and profits are damaged by poor MPG...
Estate or very large hatch
Leather/Cruise/Toys Desired
New GF
That's it really. doesn't need to handle, dont really care about insurance but want something that's reasonably cheap to run.
My shortlist is:
Xantia HDI Exclusive Hatch/Estate
C5 HDI SX or Exclusive Estate
High Spec Mondeo Hatch/Estate
Mitsubishi Galant Estate (would have to be the v6 with LPG)
Can't really see any better options. The Accord did 25mpg so would be hoping for a DERV that will do 45 ideally or a nice LPG conversion. Prestige brand would be nice but I don't think it is sensible given the budget and low running cost criteria. Feeling deflated by the gf wrecking my car again but kind of excited by the prospect of a new motor that does not drink me out of house and home. One problem with the Xantia option which is my preffered choice is that the HDI does not have cruise control, ever.
