Still, I worked it out as 100pints a year and 150 bottles of wine. That's probably actually about double what I drink.

I don't see any amounts there that justify a sad face, hardly life ruining. If you can't afford those amounts I question if you could afford to drink in the first place.

lol its hardly breaking the bank amounts, its hardly worth putting any on, it obviously isn't really to discourage binge drinking or they'd be sticking 50p - £1 on a pint etc

Yep this is about revenue not health. Still, won't actually make any difference, the amounts are too small to affect the average drinker, although 55p on a bottle of gin is a bit cheeky.

Thats besides the point. What is the problem is that the pace in the increase of cost of living is outstripping the increase in wages.
