Missing West Yorkshire schoolgirl Shannon Matthews has been found alive, it has been reported.

West Yorkshire Police are yet to confirm that she has been found.

The nine-year-old was last seen leaving Westmoor Junior School in Dewsbury on 19 February.

The force said the operation was the biggest missing person's case it had undertaken since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.

At least this means we won't be seeing any further media-whoring.

yea thats really good news - be interesting to see the story unfolding as to where she has been and who has been caring for her though

I must admit I'm very suspicious of the whole thing.

It wouldn't surprised me if this whole event has been manufactured to generate some quick income, afterall the McCann's made over a million when their daughter disappeared...

That said I'm just glad she's been found safe and well.

Yup the most important thing is that we won't have to hear about this anymore

You'd be very surprised at the public apathy stemming from the excess reporting of the Madeleine McCann disappearance. I remember quite a few ocukers here expressing their discontent at the eventual media circus that would have came to be if this girl stayed missing for an extended period of time. It's good that she's been found, of course. But for all the wrong reasons this time, personally, for me and a lot of others. Yes it's cold of me to say, but at least I am honest.

The bottom line is, one girl's with her family again, and it hasn't ended in tragedy. Time to move on.
