The CPL shuts down

Seems they've brought it on themselves with league changes (e.g. dropping CS 1.6 for Source at one point) and the pro teams moved to other leagues and never went back.

They shouldn't have ****ed off the competitive gaming community by dropping crucial staples of the league like CS1.6 and Quake 3, and putting too much focus on consoles.

Pretty much that ^^

Yes, things do need to move forwards and you can't play the same game forever; but if the only reason you move to a newer game is to help sponsors push new hardware, then you're doomed to failure.

they also took forever with paying winning teams, some waited 12months+!!!

Don't CPL still owe money to a lot of teams? i know the AMD boarded teams refused to play in the new CPL till they recieved there money.

CPL had the chance but they never had the cash injection the likes of CGS have had.

As soon as they jumped into bed with the hardware giants throwing cash at them rather than properly supporting the games and their respective gamers they were there to put on a show for it was the signature on their death warrant.
