I find it odd that so many want to write off these card's, i do not think we have sseen what it can do yet. Fair enough it might not get any better with the official release but we do not know yet.

It's annoying that people keep saying this... we DO know what it will perform like because it is based on current tech... and the card has been benched. We've seen what it can do.

Who's getting tetchy? I responded to your opinion.... and didn't say I find you annoying on a personal level, just that i find it annoying when I see people say "we don't know what it can do yet" when that's clearly rubbish. :)

Female drama

It's pretty obvious this card isn't going to warrant its price tag. How much of a performance increase is this over an 8800GTX anyway? Certainly not enough for the money by the looks of it..

Great, you upgrade cards for tiny performance increases and a great cost outlay, we are very happy for you. No-one says Nvidia are going to go out of business, just that the new 9800 series are a complete dissappointment as they add nothing new from an arbhitectural or performance perspective. You must understand that concept, right?

Who says it will be tiny performance like I said its the same as going Sli but with out the hassle of new mobo etc. Yeh there has been some bench tests so far but this will hopefully change with Driver releases. New tech is all well and good but I can remember when I got my 8800GTX it was a good 6-12 months before I could use it with all games because the drivers where crap and it kept crashing. We will all have to wait and see what these cards do, but at the end of the day we still dont know yet as some of the bench test are all over the place.

They make it sound as if they were given the card to write a new .inf for a few minutes before it had to be sent off to be reviewed.

I think that's exactly the point - the card was probably not meant to have been sent off for review when it was. I'd imagine that any NDA probably has some kind of guidance on driver usage with it too.

+1 :D

Still I think that the Dual cards are still very CPU limited indeed, IMO once your cpu is clocked will see a lot better resaults and better scaling.

Tweaktowns incompetence holds no boundaries, there always early with reviews but usually at a cost, the idiots used a driver that was never even intended for the card and are months old, pretty blatant they have no interest in giving their readers accurate data and just want more hits on their pathetic website.

Dont understand why Tweaktown are slammed tbh, this pre-release review is by far the best one to date, the driver they used isn't months old and I'd hazzard a guess it's prob newer than the ones on Nvidia's own website, they also state in their review that the very driver specifically for this card wouldn't even install so maybe the jokes on Nvidia not tweaktown

Theres plenty of people on this very forum using Nvidia drivers that require modded .inf files to run, but yet they work fine

Overclocked results now up

did you even read the review?

There has to be a new driver coming out soon. Websites have posted a newer driver than the one we received on the driver CD, but it doesn’t actually work. It refuses to install even though the driver is stated to be for the GX2.
They used the driver that came with the card, how you can say that is a driver not intended for the card is beyond me

I think he posted a knee-jerk reeaction without reading the article properly, that's the only explanation for saying such numptyish things.
