What are you reading at the moment?

I think it's time for another one of these since I got the names of some brilliant books last time and pretty much finished them all within a month. So, any good books came out lately that I've missed out on? I pretty much read anything well written and anything that leaves you with a "feel good" feeling afterwards.

Northern Lights - Philip Pullman

Brilliant series of books (Northern Lights, Subtle Knife, Amber Spyglass)

Just over half way through Anna Karenina by Tolstoy and loving it so far. Only problem being that I find the sub-plot much more interesting than the main one, and I don't really like Anna, when from what I can tell, I'm supposed to like her :p

Damn good book though.

Wow this is blast from the past! 1 year and 2 months ago I was reading ...
True history of the Kelly gang - Peter Carey

One of the best books I've ever read. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
... and unfortunately I don't think I've really picked up a book since apart from to re-read Mr. Nice, which is a superb book.

i could be silly and say oc forum but im not!!!
half way through reading the bruce lee biography by bruce thomas. great book.

I'm currently rereading the first 6 Dune books (currently on #5 Heretics of Dune), prior to reading the last two for the first time, then the prequels.

I'd forgotten how much I liked it, and how well the story ties together.

It's hard to believe the first Dune book is something like 40 years old now (although the second trilogy omnibus I'm reading was printed in about 1988:p)

I'm so disappointed, I just finished Sons Of The Oak and found out that the next book has been released in the USA, but won't be here till October 2008 :(

Once I get round to buying them however, the next series I will be starting is the Belgariad Series by David Eddings. Hopefully I'll get them soon :)

At this moment this thread...

But book wise i'm Reading Jezza Clarksons "Dont Stop me Now"

Also got some Star Trek Voyager fiction to finish..

Just finished "Commando" by Chris Terrill, starting "Cell" by Stephen King.

Both are very good, Commando only if you have an interest in military life/training/the Royal Marines.

The forums.

Zefan, ive been told to get that book commando, i think its the one anyway, is it about the ex military fella talking about his experiences and life ect ?

Is it a good read ?

Currently reading Sword Song by Bernard Cornwell then have Lords of the Bow by Conn Igguldun to read. Quite into historical novels at the moment.

Currently reading Comic Party (vol 1) by Sekihiko Inui. Will probably read Unbalance Unbalance vol 2 next :).

After that it will probably be some sort of science fiction paperback, probably a David Weber or Iain M Banks as I have some quite long train journeys to do on Thursday.

Just finished reading Forgotten Realms: Elminster and Dungeons and Dragons: The Rod of Seven Parts.

Started reading Innocent Mage by Karen Miller. So far so good.

Personal recommendations if anyone wants to read any fantasy go for the Drenai series of books by David Gemmel or anything by Raymond E Feist or Robin Hobb.

Dont touch Dragonlance with a bargepole!

Just finished Diaspora - By Greg Egan.

And it is a book of Epic proportions, it spans millenia, realities, and universes.

A dramatic insight into the future of Man in the 30th century and beyond where life is divided into three; fleshers - true homo-sapines; Gleisner robots - human minds within machines; and polises - supercomputers teeming with intellgent software containing copies of human personalities.

Be warned there are some patches of heavy pseudo physics in there, but it all just adds to the brilliant story.

READ IT.
