Be Broadband

Can't believe I haven't even considered o2 broadband before. I'm an o2 customer, £15 for 20 down 1.6 up, unlimited? Holy moly. The only thing that's putting me off is the one year contract.

Apart from not reaching 24meg are there any other major differences between Be, even though they are basically the same...?

How far are you from the exchange? must be pretty close right?

300 meters but still dont sync at full speed.

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:1,300 / 18,881

but im perfectly happy with that. Saving me £12 a month and getting some 4x the speed, which is being put to good use downloading the HD shows off revision3.com.

Love Diggnation :)

I'm happy with that for £14/Month, not sure why I have been getting 28ms ping at speedtest.net the past month or two? It always used to be between 10ms-15ms?

Anything to worry about? :D

Interestingly when I try and sign up to o2 it says I'll only be able to achieve the up to 16meg service maximum, with no chance to try out the 20meg service at all? Yet at the same time they say it's only an estimate, and I wonder what they base that estimate on, as I recall in the past these estimates saying I could only get 2meg on regular ADSL, yet I'm syncing at 8128kbps here....

AFAIK o2 will reach whatever Be reaches, the service is the same, they just choose to quote 20mb in their marketing materiel rather than 24mb.

Correct me if im wrong but i think i'm being conned by orange:

STATS: (LLU)
ReceiveAttenuation_dB= 47
ReceiveMargin_dB= 25
SendAttenuation_dB= 29
SendMargin_dB= 29

How fast should I be on ADSL and what could I expect with Be*

I see thanks. Well since they "estimate" my line wont be capable of more than 16meg theres no way for me sign up for the 20mb service with o2. I find this a bit odd, after emailing customer services they say theres no point me going for the premium package, but how can they be so certain about my max line speed?

Not great service laast night, constant disconnects, especially when playing TF2, and if the bebox didn't disconnect from the DSL then it just screwed up the network settings on the computers anyway.

I should really learn how to setup this bebox, but am sorely tempted to try something like a netgear one, as Im sure itl be more reliable.

I am very impressed with the netgear DG834GT. I am able to tweak the target SNR to get higher sync speeds so occasionally it drops as low as 4.0db...but I'm never dropped and my connection is very stable! :)

I dont think so

This is what it says:

Security Options

Disable
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WPA-802.1x

How do you do that?

Can I do it on the DG834PN?

Cheers,

G
