Lowest price in the UK - OcUK GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 @ £352.49 Inc. VAT!!

Not sure about this latest card reading the reviews.

This certianly doesn't sell it for me:
the 9800 GX2 is the only card that doesn’t send air outside the case, which means it’ll rapidly increase the temperature inside the case, thus accelerating the card’s fan (as well as the processor’s).

That's quite interesting, looking at the backplate design they've stuck the second DVI (and what looks like a HDMI slot) where the air vents usually are.

I don't think it would bode well for people with water cooling solutions as they'd have no way of getting rid of the hot air.... unless of course they wait for a GPU block to arrive that fits on the 9800GX2 and put that under water too.

or wait for the manufacturers to supply third party coolers, although that doesn't tend to happen much now. Down to cost I suppose. These are still expensive card no matter how you look at it. Supplying a non-stock cooler would only increase the price. Shame really.

I agree that you would be a fool to buy any new tech on release day or even for a month after. The fact of the matter is most people that do end up being out of pocket by large amount of cash.

I mean **** you don’t have to be Einstein to work out that it's not economically sound decision making, especially when your current hardware is capable of running all but Crysis on the highest of high.

Oh and Mike there is no comparison between cars and computer hardware, cars are bought for very different reasons than computer hardware. Something that you heavily rely on for work and social activities could never be compared to something that allows you to pull you pants down and wave your epeen because you have 1000 more 3D marks than the rest of us.

Haha

Great price for what appears to be a great card. Will order soon.

Where's all the "oh ****, I better diss every aspect of this card at every available opportunity, even though I know no facts" brigade gone? Perhaps they're away convincing themselves that they really are happy with their recent GT/GTS purchase?

NO SWEARING ~ Zefan.

Once again, and even slower for you VinceB1:

What if you dont own a graphics card at the the moment? What if you want to game on a 30" screen with impeccable frame rates? What if you are quite simply err, loaded? (im not by the way). ;)

Wow this is exasperating:

There is a comparison to be made between a car and hardware. Why? Simply because they are both a consumer good.

Secondly, not everybody heavily relies on a car for work. Some people walk to work, cycle or god forbid take public transport. Yes a car enables one to particiapte in social activities, but then so does owning a graphics card, its called gaming.

I wont bother to reply to your ludicrous comments about epeen because they are childish and not in the slightest bit relevant.

Last edit/ I realise that the tone of my comments are slightly patronising. I cant help it.

Apart from picking up on frankly appalling English let me digress, cars and graphics cards sit at two entirely different ends of the spectrum. A car will allow you to go outside experience the world and expand your horizons, an enthusiast graphics card will do the opposite simply plating you in front of a screen and granting forum bragging rights and 1000 extra 3D Marks - (epeen comment).

Getting back on track... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a game or two from time to time but if I didn't have a graphics card, I still wouldn't buy the latest and greatest - why?... Well because I have more than enough brain cells to do some cost benefit analysis and realise that there is little this card can do that two cheaper cards running in SLI or Crossfire will not do admirably.

Thus once again rendering your comments utter gibberish and reinforcing my point that the money saved can be spent on next generation high end, but not enthusiast technology, or indeed be put away for a life and a new car.

My grammar may not be perfect but neither is your spelling. I think you can understand me well enough.

Let me go on record and say I dont own a GX2, nor do I plan to in the near future. I like my GTX.

Look, you or I do not have to buy a GX2, nor do we have to buy a brand new car. That my friend is a consumer decision based on as you say - cost/benefit analysis which will be different for everyone. Just because two consumer goods are at opposite ends of the spectrum is irrelevant. They are still on the same spectrum, because they are consumer goods! Its not rocket science man!

You also state that this card does little that an SLI/Crossfire set-up cannot do already, I agree, however you must bear in mind that not everyone has an SLI or crossfire capable board, or even wants to own a two card set-up. The GX2 therefore will be attractive to some.

I dont really mind if someone buys this card or not, I just take exception to them being insulted for doing so.

Fair play and I wasn't insulting anybody. I was just pointing out facts that you would have to be institutionalised for buying this right now... The only reason I can see for buying this is for bragging rights and to be held to ransom by the Nvidia driver team.

I hope that I am wrong and that they will pull their finger out now, but what do I care anyway?

Must admit I do love reading these threads and occasionally talking part, even if it is just to drop to fanboy level and stir up some reactions. I mean if I am honest I haven't even read a review but I did look at the price.

What point?

You haven't made one yet.

haha fair play easyrider :) I’ll let you part with £360 :p I can't even remember why I got involved with this, I’m normally more of a reader than a writer but something somebody said, for some reason got my back up... Now I've started digging that hole and just don't feel like stopping, I’m going to carry on digging, chatting **** and generally confusing myself and everybody around me, is that OK?
