18 Year old man rapes a 5 month old baby

Sadly this sort of thing doesn't shock me anymore. I lived in South Africa for nearly 5 years and this sort of thing used to happen far, far too often. And that only accounts for the occasions when the news bothered to report it.
 
A large stake should be inserted up his rear end then hit with a sledge hammer by every person related to that poor child.
 
Tell me something new - this kind of stuff I hear about nearly daily now. It doesn't even faze or disgust me anymore.

this guy need to be put in a max sercirity mental unit im not saying this guy need are help but until he understands what he did was wrong there can never really be any retribution. if they stick him in jail he'll just be put in solitary and live out the rest of his life probably never fully understanding the evil that he has done

This is really corny - 'evil he's done' blablablabla. Even if he understood, it wouldn't take away the fact a baby's been raped and a family's gone through severe trauma that would take years to go away. People need to be jailed for their actions for multiple purposes. One is for the protection of society and to make sure it doesn't happen again. Nobody cares how the rapist feels.

I sense deja vu by the way. This is going to end up being a copy-paste thread from the 'baby being beheaded' thread I made some time ago, where it descended into ping-pong arguments about jail or death penalty or why either is pointless and etc etc. Happy hunting!

I seem to remember reading that a lot of the rapes in Africa were attributed to a myth that sex with a virgin would cure HIV/AIDS

Would it be something along the lines of 'oh it keeps down the population and they deserve to die for being so stupid anyway'? Most Africa discussion go down this route.

Yep, 'witchdoctors' (can't remember their proper name...begins with S) would spread all sorts of utterly stupid and downright despicable ideas of what could cure, prevent or reduce HIV/AIDS. The government seemed to do very little to fight it, other than say "Eish...you shouldn't do dat...". The Health Minister was bad enough when she issued an advisory stating that fresh fruit and vegetables - including garlic and lemons - would help to treat AIDS.

Then there's the time that they actually decided to do something positive and distribute condoms for free. Just a shame they thought it wise to staple the instructions to the condom itself.

Seriously, I could go on. I loved living there but there's so much that just left me shaking my head in disbelief, to the point where, quite soon, it didn't provoke a reaction at all.
 
I haven't read every post but omg that poor baby, God knows what damage he has done internally, she's five months old, he may have damaged her for life, physically and she will have to be told when older because some one else will! the family will have to live through it all again, as she trys to come to terms with it.

I can't even describe my thoughts on him.

Calling this thing an animal is an insult to animals. And I have no time for hand-wringing apologists playing the mentally ill card.

Anyone convicted of such an act (or any murder/rape/child abuse) should be promptly taken out back of the courthouse and shot in the head.

There is no use for these "people" in my world.
