Upgrade from 8800 GTS to 3870X2 worth it?

I'm currently on a 8800 512 GTS, would an upgrade to a 3870x2 give me a significant boost in performance, or would I be better off until the real next-gen cards arrive?

I Currently game @ 1680 x 1050

I Dont care too much about Crysis, but it would be nice to have better FPS.

Total waste of time if you dont care for 1 buggy game above and all others will play well at that RES even with AA. (ignoring a few bad Console Ports thats down to coding).

I went from a 8800gts 512mb to 3870X2 and no, it isn't worth it. Only reason I switched is so I could try Xfire.

Would it be worth flogging it on ebay or the like, and buying a 8800 GTS 512mb? Would be primarly for games, though im starting a computer games design course in September and gonna be doing a lot of graphics stuff me thinks

Graphics stuff yea, not playing games and doubt you'll be making anything like crysis .

Nothing wrong with that card, does it play everything you play atm? The 320mb memory could be a problem, but wait for now.

Yes at 1900x1200 but not at 1680.

I found with the 8800GTS at 1900x1200 even x2 FSAA crippled it which was annoying

even with 2 year old games

Keep the gts - i just got rid of my 38702 and went backk to a gts and theres not much in it.

Odd there as people manage to play games with higher levels of AA than that.
