was on my way to order my new st2 focus today and thought id call into my local skoda dealer for a quick test drive of a vrs 2.0tfsi and all i can say is now im stumped on which to buy. i love both cars which would u guys go for

Biased but Focus, better steering feel and nicer engine (5 pot turbo), but their aint a lot in it.

Personally id go for a ST3, the seats in the st2 are a bit chavvy with the coloured insets.

But bear in mind the focus drinks fuel like a fish, the octy will easily give you 35mpg by all accounts and easier on the tyres, on the focus you tend to average 28mpg, 32 is possible on a run, front tyres every 12k etc.

the car is going to be new the 08 focus is quite tasty inside and the power button is quite cool but i just can't seem to get the vrs out of my head. annoying realy as ive had my heart on the focus for a long time now and now ive saved enough to get one this happends lol.

vrs estate :

make a great family car, cheaper running costs and will attract less unwanted attention

From an autocar test, this was with a golf and focus st;

"Nonetheless, the vRS impressed at the track, reaching 60mph in 6.6sec and 100mph in 17.3sec (seven-tenths faster than the GTi), and around the Millbrook bowl: where a GTi stops accelerating at 136mph, the Octavia squeezed out a further 7mph to reach 143mph. Given the Octavia’s inferior power-to-weight ratio, we can only suggest that manufacturing tolerances make some 2.0 TFSI engines stronger than others. Still, with these figures the vRS has enough punch to stay at the front of the hot-hatch crowd. In a straight-line race only the snarling Vauxhall Astra VXR is quicker."

If space if yo' thing;

Octavia’s trump card. The cabin offers rear passengers more legroom than a Golf or Focus, and the 560-litre boot has 200 litres more than either the Ford’s or VW’s.

Also;

We achieved 23.8mpg during mixed driving and 36.8mpg on a touring run. With relatively low emissions of 190g/km and group 15 insurance, the vRS is still the cheapest hot hatch to run.

That would be my reason for going for an Octy, bigger boot and cheaper to run overall.The boot on the Focus, esp mine as it has the space saver, is completly rubbish, i couldnt even get the clubs in:(

I dont reccomend the focus as a good car for someone with 3 kids, tbh, 2 people can comfortably sit in the back tho.
