Pic: Your desk...RIGHT NOW

I was thinking of buying a glass and metal desk like that. However, I was put off by the fact that the steering wheel (that you are using as well), might end up cracking/shattering the glass. The force feedback and the "judder" effect surely would crack it.

Can you comment? Do feel it is safe to use a force feedback steering wheel with the glass desk?

Thanks

EDIT: I just noticed your flooring and skirting board. Do you live in an old property? Its very rare that you get to see old features restored, like you have. Most of the stuff you see these days is cheap tatt - laminate flooring, short skirting, etc.

Force feedback is fine, the glass is about 1cm thick and can take some serious abuse. (me standing on it in the middle)
I use the wheel in the last three from the need for speed series and the gtr series, much more fun than a keyboard. A wheel, paddles and pedals are much more of a challenge and much more involving than pads or keyboards.

The house I live in is a relatively large and old one, about 120 years old. When we arrived, we took up the carpet and did the floor over, it needs doing again though, wear and tear from my chair. :)

For a force feedback wheel, the glass should be able to withstand someone standing on it. The problem with the wheel is that with all the vibration, at any point, there is a possibility of it shattering.

lazyboy, is that normal 1cm glass or is shatter proof or toughened glass?

Wut? How did you even have the cojones to try that? :p
I needed to fit a new lampshade. :p

Looks pretty standard to me, wasn't very expensive when I picked it up from habitat so can't be anything special.

Sorry for pretty fail phone camera pic but I just set this lot up today. Excuse the mess, not hoovered.

Can't really see the desk but it's one of these, without the monitor stand or the computer under it (that's under the telly in a HTPC case, you can just about see it where the blue light is at the bottom): -

Its looks like the middle of the day open your curtains man ;) :D

I presume that is a LAN event? If so, do you play games, pretty much all day for 4 days straight?

Would that not be extremely unhealthy?

Finally bought my new desk and fitted it tonight. I had to utilise the old tv stand underneath to put the shuttle pc and my midi keyboard. I can drag it out from under there when I need to use it. Looks good now. Much tidier than my old pc desk cluttering up the place.

Nice wallpaper :) Do you mind posting a link to it?
