Mate of mine told me earlier that he got a bus lane fine for.. get this.. letting an ambulance pass, he had to dip into the EMPTY lane for a mere 4 seconds roughly, they are not willing to work with him (not sure which council, near Bounds Green though) even though the ambulance is also in the picture. Sad state this is.

Exactly why I wouldnt do that or go through a red light.

They have themselves to blame, I don't want to get caught up in their systems.

If the ambulance is in the picture, contest the fine and go to court.
Shame you have to go through that hassle, will they pay for your time involved?

First letter saying it isn't your fault can be free I guess, but subsequent time lost surely can be charged for?

On the other hand, why wasn't the ambulance just going down the bus lane? Surely it'd have been faster and safer than negotiating traffic.

Might have intending to turn right?

They do say that you shouldn't break the law to get out the way of an emergency vehicle, but it does seem rather harsh for a bus lane fine to be given :(

Good point, will have to ask him next time he calls or is see him, prolly intending to do a right though as pointed out earlier.

If the ambulance went down the bus lane, it'd be passing people on the left, and when people hear sirens, they tend to panic and pull to the left without thinking.

Just wait for 31st March and this will become the norm.

Over 4 million potential new cameras in the form of repurposed CCTV. They may not be filming that man holding a knife to your throat but they'll still be fighting crime. Oh wait, no they wont because parking offences are decriminalised.

Parking attendants who no longer need to "issue" tickets. So long as they claim they witnessed an infraction and have your reg number you'll have a hard time proving your innocence 2 weeks down the line when postie brings you a ticket.

This happened to me today, it was a paramedic car and he was coming towards me in his/my lane over taking a car that lane was a single lane, while I was in the lane with bus lane next to me, I and the car behind me both pulled into the bus lane to give him room.

Crazy because you don't have to move but if you move through a red light or in a bus lane you can get fined for it.

Note : I was not fined.
