Lian Li A71 Case

Pro's..

Huge, lots of space inside.
Light for its size
A looker from the front
Resonably quiet out of the box
HD bays with rubber gromets.
The door has a nice movement.

Cons
Wasn't a fan of the mother board tray compared to the Coolermaster CM201.
Contruction isn't as solid as the 201.
Power and reset button seem to be plastic and don't have that quality feel on use. Front bends in a little when used.
Sides are damn ugly. They stop about an inch from the front and just look unfinished.

Overall quite good but those sides just ruin the finish in my eyes. :( Looking at the official pic they show no side shots apart from this one which shows a nice flush finish.

Compare that with..

Yes I am a moany old ******* before you ask. I just expect better when I spend my cash ;)

Oh well just like so many other 'upgrades' of mine lately there is some flaw or lack of wow.

Got my A71B *ordered* not sure when its ging to be ready.

Black Lian Li with powdercoated black internals, 120.3 in the top along with a nice smoked window :D

Hi, ooh that sounds nice, plenty of pics please....
Chris

Don't worry will take plenty, :D hopefully my camera will actually do it some justice.

I'm currently unsure of the window design, might go for pretty much a standard square window like the Lian Li one positioned so you don't see anything you don't want to see (lots of cables :p) or whether to get something more interesting. Don't wanna detract from the clean look of the case though.

Just what I am considering but in silver and without the window..

Still undecided yet thou.

Having issues getting hold of a black one at the moment. Can only find the silver ones in stock at the moment, hoping to get hold of one soon though.

I am ordering my A71B next week to upgrade from my V1100. The V1100 is just too small to house 5 x 500GB HDDs and a 8800GTX whilst maintaining a tidy case...

Some more photos of your cases would be helpful :)

I'll get them sorted. Project keeps getting pulled back through waiting on parts, unit work, and just life in general.
Proper work will begin after my uni coursework is all handed in mid april.

Do any of you know the model number of the fans that come with the case? How loud are they?
Hi Danger,

I have the a70b - identical but minus the door.

Fan model number is LI121225BL-4

Not massively quiet @ 12v but they are quiet @ 7v and amazingly spin up @ 5v too where they are as good as silent.

How much space is there at the back of the hard drives if you put the drive so the connectors are at the back? I was wondering if I need to get right angled SATA cables or will the normal ones do?

I just watched a video review of the case and the guy mentions that the main hard drive cage can be rotated by 180 degrees, which requires removing a lot of screws.

I was wondering... why is it necessary to do this? Can the hard drives only go in one way (with the connectors facing the left side) or can it be done both ways with the stock orientation of the cage?
