Hi all,

Fed up of the quality of high street stores shoes.

Ive always been under the impression clarks shoes are meant to be high quality, is that still the case?

Perhaps not the most cutting edge designs, but certainly good quality.

I just got myself some Paul Smith Shoes, cost me £119. They look great and feel very nice and look the dogs. Suppose i wont really know if it was a good investment till i have wore them a few times.

120 quid on a pair of shoes, thats crazy!

I spent £100+ on a pair of boots from clarks about 4 years ago and they look as good today as they did then. I love them! They will still be worn 5 years from now. you get what you pay for.

Given that people will spend £50+ on a pair of trainers that won't last 6-12 months it's not too bad, especially as Clarks shoes tend to be well made and last years.

I believe they used to be the supplier of choice for Royal Mail's standard issue because they were relatively comfortable, smart, and would last very well :)
I had a pair of relatively cheap (IIRC £60) Clarks shoes that lasted me about 4 years, and was well chuffed when I managed to pick up another pair like it cheap when they were clearing old stock last year ;)

As some others have said you get what you pay for, and Clarks shoes tend to be about the best compromise between cost and quality that are easily available.

Woah, who else remembers Clarks Commando's :p I was always terrified as a kid of that machine they had in the Clarks place that looked like it was going to crush your foot into a pulp and not just measure it.

I can't really remember Commando's for sure but I can definately remember the machine.

You are officially old. Yes, I remember them - had at least one pair. Didn't they used to have a little compass in the heel at one stage?
