okay, so ask any hard disk manufacturer.. and they will tell you the same thing, 1000 megabytes is 1 gigabyte (just cuz those of us that understand binary know better is neither here nor there) Am I missing something, cuz I fail to see the point of this thread..

It was something that annoyed me, people who patronize like that annoy me.. As it probably annoys others, then you get one of the pro OcUKers who posts something like that.

which is correct. 1000mb is 1gb, 1024mib = 1gib. ;)

He probably thinks that 1024 is the correct answer but doesn't know that HDDs are not measured in the same way. Anyone bought a 400Gb HDD where the could use all 400Gb? No?
