It's been a while.........They see me rollin'...

It's a bit... 4 pot diesely isnt it? As in rattley, clattery, all over by 4500rpm and not really THAT quick unless you ignore the fact you can go everywhere in 5th.

Hampered by the weight of the mk5...But it's a perfectly capable modern derv lump. A bit of tuning and it's a hoot by all accounts...

In the words of Colin Chapman, for speed, add lightness.

Thats an interesting point - I wonder how quick it'll be in a Mk2?

Sad thought.. I wonder how economical it'll be in a Mk2?

900Kg instead of 1450ish(?) - that's no small difference. An extra 15-odd bhp/tonne on a stock engine and more than double the bhp/tonne figure if you put a tuned one in a mk2...

Was thinking the same, prolly higher mpg than the mk5 cos theres less weight to shift.

I miss my remapped Mk5 2.0 TDi, in fact i honestly preferred it for everyday fun and hooliganism to the 330 i have at the moment.

I always compared it to being a mistress. A dirty little car that you can do anything too and just keeps coming back for more!

Add lightness and a stiff shell and would be fantastic fun, plus....40+mpg when caning it hard!!

I think Penski should have one thread to post all this **** and stop creating new threads for the same old garbage.

Sorry, can a passing moderator merge this thread with all the other ones I've posted about mkII Golfs with neon camo and Porsche rims...?

Well I think that's awful, but it does make me grin when I think about the reaction of Edition 38 types when they see the wheels :D
