As above, i am always on a look out for new games to keep me interested, i always go back to cs:source - really into the zombie mod at the moment.

I have seen this for sale at various places at £9.99. What are peoples thoughts on this game, is itany good? What is the online gameplay / community like?

Cheers

Its pants,i think it is anyway i got it when it first was released and ive tried it a few times and really dont like it,frontlines is much better if your looking for that type of game.

i picked the collectors edition up for £10 last week, and i dont think its to bad at all, its got a BF2142 feel to it for me. Worth £10 id say and youll have no problem finding a server to play on

I wouldn't pay a tenner for it mate. Maybe when its in one of those 99p cages, but even then it would seem like a waste of a pound coin. Not worth it at all in my opinion.

Good fun for £10, it offers very robust gameplay with a pretty pleasant online community from what i've seen on its forums, I think perhaps it was just a bit badly timed... although you could say that about anything that was released around the time of CoD4.

the beta/demo was truley aweful. I had to remind myself about that when I grasped the £10 game in a shop. I horridly, shoved the thing back on its shelf.

You can find it for just under £7 if you look...

For me, I love it at the moment. Better than TF2, COD4. Bit like playing BF2, but with reg.

*shrug* I've been playing continuously since moving from BF2142..

It's a good game in terms of game play. Very much a pick up, play and then quit when you want. Those online seem good and I've only had one instance where I've felt that someone may have been botting.

It seems that the skill and teamwork actually make more of a difference than the weapon upgrades..

I just wish the sniper rifle/railgun had a longer distance...

It's actually a good game, but overcomplicated on every level. Campaigns are too one sided as well. It also relies too much on class variation - engineers only build but can't plant charges, special ops only hack and convert but can't blow things up, in your first few games, even if you grasp the twists and turns of the assignement you all end up in task point looking at the medic to see if he has some dynamite in satchel. Shame really, cause it's a game that runs good on just about every PC these days and has no 20 minute loading time like battlefield does. They should make it a freebie.

Seems its a pretty marmite game. If you are into fps games and enjoy smooth gameplay then I doubt you will like it to be honest.
Best bet is to get the demo, then decide.

Graphics are way behind the times on max settings, i'd say comparible to BF1942.

Movement and combat feels like Command & Conquer Renegade or Serious Sam, i.e. you hover along at fast speeds with awful motion. Combat is point and shoot, regardless on the objectives you have to complete, it feels horrible.

Sound is muffled and bland.

Textures are plain and outdated.

However, the out of game UI is nice.

I'd think anygame, especially one i can play online, that's newish and from ID for £10 would be a no brainer, but after trying it, why the hell would i want to play this over BF2, COD4 or Crysis? Price is now irrelevent unless it was free.

I don't know what people **** it off it's a great game! It's even MORE fun when you find a competitive server with people who know what they're doing.

fun is kinda personal preference. I just think there's several games out there that do every single area of the game better, I don't play BF2 anymore, but let's use that as an example. Graphically also, as many reviews have said, it's disappointing.

The game isn't from ID, its from Splash Damage and is based on a slightly updated Doom3 engine which as far as I know was mainly the addition of megatexture and improving the vehicle physics for online use -- so it isn't going to be comparing itself with Crysis in terms of cutting edge rendering technologies.. but saying it's down there with BF1942, a game that came out 5 years earlier than it, is a bit too much.
