Ford Focus styling help

My rears were seized, had the back end up in the air for a few days :D , unfortunately they are rather prone to seizing due to water and all! Make sure you get Eibach though as brands like GMAX tend to go sloppy. The ride will be a lot firmer but the handling will improve! Especially if your coming from a non zetec suspension! There a lot stiffer.

Ben.

So how did you manage in the end. What sort of tools are needed besides sockets, compressors and jack.

When I changed my rears I didnt bother unbolting anything. If you compress the spring it pops out with a little force, and you can put in the new one. I think there's a pictorial guide floating around on FFOC somewhere on how to do it.

That sounds like a nice easy solution :D, think I'll try it that way.

Would something like this have everything i need?. I'm going to be servicing it soon and replacing the front discs so need to get a few tools together.

Sorry Tom, not a paid up member anymore unfortunately. I think one of the admin guys who was involved with creating the Ford disks, had a website with some guides on. Will have a trawl through my favourites now though incase its there.

Got some new photos. Thats with 205/50/R16 tyres with a 30mm drop. Hope that helps any decision on what to do!

The rear end will sit higher then the front with the drop, quite a few people drop the rear by 40 and the front by 30-35, unfortunately i didn't fit the springs myself, but I'm sure some penetrating oil would come in handy!

Glad you got the springs! Your gonna have to keep it now surely!? :p

Pictures as promised :)

It goes barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmp, I go weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D

Gonna give it a clean up on the weekend, all ready for my cams now :D

Ben.

I had a go at jacking up the car with my new trolley jack to get under and WD40 all the bolts ready for the weekend, but slightly bent the little metal strip by the jacking point on the sill. Bit frustrating but hey things never go without a hitch if I'm involved :p:mad:

LOL :D

I usually use the little jack that the car came with and then stick the big jack under one of the joins. I've always been a little bit cautious when jacking my car up ever since my dad told me he always use to go straight through the chassis on his old mini's with them :D . Mind they were usually rotten underneath haha.

Live and learn :)

Jacking points seem to be incredibly ambiguous on the Focus unless you jack at the sills. But if you're using a standard Halfords jack you need to improvise something to fit over the metal sill to stop it bending as Tom (and I) have both managed.

It's only the thin strip of metal that runs along, a bit overhangs over the other strip (they are joined up) so it bent it down. Managed to bend it back pretty much. Still frustrated. I know to take more care at the weekend now :p

Thanks for that amb :), i think 16s look really good on the Focus. If i cant find any 17s for a good price I'll be going for some 16s after seeing yours.
