Falling...
The early versions of these bikes were dissapointing. The injectors / ecu caused issues with low down grunt, and stuttering in the low/mid rev range. However in late 2001 they revised the injectors and ECU for the 2002 models onwards, they sorted those flat spots out and hesitations. Brakes are ferocious (in a good way), it's chuckable and that induction roar is just fantastic.

Yes, maybe not quite as potent as the other top spec 600s, but owing to it's unfortunate bad press it's meant that this has always been a gem and a steal to buy. Yes it's probably more of a "middleweight" but at 108bhp it's no slouch either sub 4s 60 times, and possibly sub 11s 1/4 mile.

So yep you guessed it I've been looking at these recently (the 2002 models onwards) and I have to say I've fallen for them. If only for the noise and the incredible handling. The looks are not to everyone's tastes but I for one think they're great. I'm looking at another potential one this weekend but I doubt the weather will be good enough for a proper test ride. Even for a tall & fat bugger like me they work well.

Despite being a frog, it would be good to fly the flag every time I get out on 2 wheels. :D

As you said, once the fueling is sorted via ecu upgrades, you'll have a cracking bike. The handling is supposed to be excellent.
I like the Daytona 650 with the angular looks to the tank and seat unit.
Need to wait a few years before im back on a bike, but a 650 is one i'd put on my short list.

Yeah it's got the 4-pot brakes of the 955i  I do like the 650 but it's a little out of my price range really though it's tempting!

Not quite the TT600 but I was seriously considering a Speed Four for my upgrade a few months back, which is basically the same bike I believe just the 'streetfighter' version. Everything I read seems to point to them being good fun bikes :)

Unfortunately insurance for any ~600 is more than I'd like so I settled for an NC30 :p

The TT600 is a great bike like you say it wont keep up with the Jap bikes but its never far behind, and if you are quick then you wont be left behind at all.

I love the Daytona in yellow with the union flag nosecone :)

To be honest unless you're on a track to all intents and purposes there won't be much in it compared to other 600s, however it's quite cheap for me to insure, and I can't really fit on the other 600s that comfortably - and an all in all it's a great bike. I've got a couple more lined up to test. I'm not up for a thou at the moment, I prefer 600s for the time being, was interested in a non ABS VFR or the CBR600F, I prefer a bit of comfort :o Or even go back to my old Yamaha Thundercat which was an awesome bike. I just fancied a change and had a go on the TT and just loved it! Is there anything that you could recommend that is under 3k that might be worth while looking at?

Ok i'm not sure if you'll go for these but look at the Sprint ST and the VFR800 (Pre-VTEC) both are good neutral handling machines, pack a reasonable punch (ST slightly more so), able to put sportsbikes in there place if you want to and you can just sit and munch miles on them. I love my VFR, revs like a two-stroke, put a fair few GSXR 600s in there place too! Oh yes both are available reasonably at 2.5Kish.

watch out for the finish m8, every recent triumph I've seen all fixtures and fittings turn to dust at the first sign of rain... nice bikes though, just need tlc to keep them in nice nick.

ohh and the sprint st, it's abit of a barge, rode one and though quick enough wallows about quite a lot in fast sweepers..in fact the sprint rs which is meant to be sportier does the same :(

Which is why I'm quite keen on the TT which is very nimble. As for TLC that's one thing I've got, I do look after my property and am not shy of getting my hands dirty and keeping my baby in good condition. The people here who saw my last bike can confirm that it looked in tip top condition. :) However I will heed your advice when checking some out. :)

You'll get stern words from people.

And you don't want that.

PS: Counter with "I'm reducing front tyre wear, meaning that less tyres have to be made and therefore helping the environment."

best bit of riding a triumph is you get accosted by old men in street 'i used to have one of those when I was young' ....err 'no you didn't m8 lol' ..they usually pass out when you explain how much power it has.
