Got April's issue of PC gamer in the post this morning. First I've heard of this?

Looking forward to it, Dawn of War's mix of ranged and melee was unique and it was a great game, although the engines getting on a bit now so its good to see a new one.

DoW with CoH graphics would be great! Would be a shame but probable that you'd have to buy another 3 expansions though to get the same amount of armies as we're used to playing with.

They better be taking this to a larger scale since I am sick of being limited in what I can and cant use, which is one of the main reasons that I simply cannot stomach playing both Dark Crusade + Soul Storm, that and the SP is just constant skirmish after skirmish.

Which is why I have high hope for DoW 2, but low expectations going by the previous installments.

Original Dawn of War is my favourite RTS of all time, the expansions ruined it for, making it quite inbalanced and just not as fun to play

Hopefully they can exceed CoH graphics as well as that would be truly awesome

Also

Tyranid please!

Odd they added sisters of battle rather than them really... guess it was just easier to make them without changing the game play significantly.

If you were going to make a DoW 2, what race would you hold back as the big draw for your new game?? Me too :)

They've always said they couldn't do it properly in the current engine. All the other races are bipedal humanoids that have similar animations. Tyranids would require completely different animations. I'm glad they held it back rather than doing it badly.

It was supposedly because the game engine wouldn't do them justice (since the Tyranids are a swarm race with untold billions of them, then again we could say the same thing about the Orks...)

Which is why I am hoping for a larger scale and more zoomed out so we can play races such as Orks+Tyranids how they were meant to be played.

DoW2 would be cool......but only if:
1. You could have more than 50 units in your army.
2. You could zoom out more so it didnt look as if you were looking at the game through a magnifying glass.
3. Bigger maps.
4. Dual monitor support.
5. Less of the absolutely terrible voice clips for every ******* action that I make that "requires" one of my units to make a fool of their armies.
6. More visual detail on the units.. I WANT POLYGONS!!!!!!!

ive only ever played the origional DoW - thinking about getting the expansions for it... as evey bugger i know seems to be ranting and raving about them! .. but im too addicted to WoW atm.. again!

I didn't like the Dark Crusade expansion - Winter assault was fine, as it had a storyline (two really, depending on whether you went Eldar or Imperium), whereas DC was just a load of skirmish maps. Soulstorm is the same. Good for multiplayer, not so much fun to play through as a campaign.

Belgian magazine PCGameplay is reporting a sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is on the way, according to IGN.

Only two classes, Orkz and Space Marine, have been mentioned so far. There will be co-op campaigns for both. It's also being reported that the game will support DirectX 10 and multiple CPU cores.

Relic has been developing the game since September 2006, and it's due out next year.

Whoop Whoop!

I'd like to see some battles taken off plain skirmish maps and placed in Space Hulks, rather than the normal resouce gather methods and buildings you have to fight for control of 'entry points' that allow you to reinforce your army. That would be tactically fun and challenging (Particularly if it's a Hulk controlled by Tyranids :D)
